What a Life!!
I first ran across Tony Bourdain as a guest judge on the hopelessly addictive Bravo show "Top Chef" then saw his excellent "No Reservations" show on the Travel Channel. He looked like an interesting dude so I decided to check out his book to see what made him what he is. The book is a great read. The first half of the book was filled with stories on how he became a top chef. Crazy characters check in and out in every chapter. You learn what days NOT to eat fish. (Seriously you will think about this the next time you eat fish.) You will learn the life of a chef from the inside. I used to think I would like to be a chef. Not anymore. It is a very difficult life. You will read about people who you will not forget. Interestingly the last chapter even foreshadows his future career path. The entire book reads like Tony is telling you stories over a couple of cold beers in a pub. If you like food and you like wacky characters buy this book. Cheers!

A startling insight into the world of professional cooking
I am not a chef. I am a nerd. Science is my game. However, I really enjoyed reading this book. I first encountered Tony via his 'No Reservations' series on TV (also great) and thought I would give his book a try. It presents a fascinating and humours selection of memories covering what actually happens in a professional
kitchen
and interestingly, the type of people who cook in these places. I preferred this to the sequel (The Nasty Bits) as the stories are more shocking.

Awesome book about the resturant industry
Raw and Truthful, this is what Bourdain is all about. As a reader of this book you too wil travel through the life of a chef, plus pick us some excellent advice in your daily life of
culinary cusine
, for example, stay away from fish on Sunday and Monday..because its not fresh or avoid those over priced brunch buffets, because just as we all may have suspected, it is the remains of last night dinner, with some eggs and cheese thrown in. If you enjoy the show, no reservation and his total frankness, I suggest reading this book first, before reading a Cooks Tour.

Don't eat the meat!
Well written, entertaining, and amusing. However, by his own admission, he exaggerates and overgeneralizes much of the time.
Great read! I dig this guy!
Bourdain is true. No sugar coating, no political correct crap... This is a real look into a life. If that's what you're looking for, read the damn book. It's like living another lifetime. Worth the ticket price by far. Thank you for being there Ant!
