Great Read!

I read this book after seeing the movie. I was afraid I would be disappointed and was as enraptured with the novel as I had been with the movie. I highly recommend No Country for Old Men. The writing was simple but strong. It leaves you with that lingering feeling of being a part of something words cannot describe. I could not wait to finish the book and hated to come to the end of the book. Savor the flavor that Cormac McCarthy creates in this wonderful modern western story.

I am a huge fan of Cormac McCarthy and I was intrigued by the reviews that stated this was one of his most accessible works ever, and also by the current movie adaptation by the Coen brothers (which I have not yet seen). I enjoyed this audiobook for its fast-moving descriptions of brutal action and for the fully developed characters. I felt the ending was anticlimactic though. Kudos for the narration which fully captured the rough 'n tumble feel of the book.

Incredible

I could not put this book down. It was hard to keep the dialouge straight from time to time but other than that this book is perfect.

Another amazing book from this brilliant author

From the first sentence this book is impossible to put down. It is a real thriller and so much more. The images of the countryside are vivid even though the language is sparse, each word carefully chosen. The Sheriff is beautifully drawn as a sympathetic but flawed human being. The assassin makes your skin crawl. Only one ending is possible but getting there is an awful journey.
