Life Changing Book!

No, kidding. This book changed my life. I am chronically disorganized and although I still hate organizing and housework, I now find it bearable because I have a weekly plan and daily routine. I follow the plan in the book in a loose and flexible way and still manage to stay basically on track. I like the fact that you can structure it to meet your individual needs. I've read many organizing books and have come to the conclusion that there are three basic areas to organize: your time, your "stuff" (like your home and paperwork) and your money. This book does a great job tackling time management with it's index card system, daily routines and weekly plans. It also makes decluttering a priority and 1st step towards true peace of mind and order in your life. For me it has taken three favorite books and almost 2 years to get on track. I love The Organizing Sourcebook for organizing "stuff". It's very thorough and also has a step-by-step plan for decluttering your home and getting it organized. Sink Reflections (the Fly Lady book) is great for both time management and organizing and decluttering your things. I use the basic plan in Get Your Act Together and embellish it with Sink Reflections routines and lists. I found the lists and routines in Sink Reflections to be more thorough and applicable to my life, but that's not to say that Get Your Act Together won't be perfect as it is for someone else. I highly recommend this book to anyone who really wants to get organized and stay that way!

New & Improved SHE System

I liked the first SHE book and even started a local support group of SHE's. I recently picked up this book and found The Slob Sisters learned some things in the 15 years of experience since they wrote "Sidetracked Home Executives." I found the changes they made to the system to be GOOD ONES. I especially liked how they flat out tell you what to put on the cards - I'm a SHE because I have such a hard time making decisions! The fewer decisions I have to personally make, the better. I really liked the section on getting the husband and kids more involved - this is a topic everyone in my SHE support group yearns for answers on! I agree with some of the other reviewers that some of the personal stories got a little long, but overall I think this book offers a better system than the first book. The first book offers more in-depth insight on WHY we are so disorganized, but the system improvements in this book appeal to me.

Useful...but read their other book first

I hesitated to buy this book since some of the reviews said it was basically useless and probably just an attempt to make more money on their part. But I LOVED their first book, Sidetracked Home Executives, so I decided to give this one a shot.

While I agree that there's a lot of fluff in this one, there are also plenty of solid, helpful tips for optimizing their organizational system -- they wrote this 10+ years after their first book was published, so they'd had plenty of time to work out the kinks.

Don't make this your first "slob sisters" purchase -- read Sidetracked Home Executives first -- but if you find that their cardfile organizational system works for you at all, I recommend getting this book to fine tune the system.

Fantastic for the organizatonally impared

These are actually repeat purchases I have followed Pam & Peggy's philosophy for many years and now do some consulting and wanted a spare book to be able to lend out without risking loosing my original. Great tool to have a peaceful home.
