Obsessed with the series, but not Eclipse

Eclipse, the third book of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, continues the intriguing and irresistible story of Bella Swan and her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen. In this installment, Bella struggles with her risky decision to become a vampire, as well as the tension between Edward and her werewolf best friend, Jacob Black, which eventually develops into a deadly love triangle. As these life-changing events occur, Bella is also being hunted down by various groups of hungry vampires. This packed story contains both good and bad elements.
Like Twilight and New Moon, Meyer's previous books, Eclipse is a page-turner. Though there is not much action, it is somehow very suspenseful. This may be partially due to the fact that readers expect nothing less from Meyer, as the other two books in her series were utterly thrilling the entire time. Another pro of Eclipse is the intensity of the characters. Unlike the characters in many stories, I truly care about Bella, Edward, and Jacob.
However, these characters' actions no longer make sense in Eclipse, as they do not correspond to how the characters were depicted in Twilight and New Moon. Bella, for example, was portrayed as wise and mature for her age at the beginning of the series. She is suddenly whiny and immature, throwing fits over silly things like how she must age while Edward and Jacob do not. Jacob, on the other hand, does not respect Bella's feelings at all. He used to be sweet and understanding, but now that he is a werewolf and also madly in love with her, Meyer believes that it's acceptable for him to be a creep. The caring Jacob of Twilight and New Moon has been replaced by someone who forces her and tricks her into kissing him, which I find repulsive. Most appalling is the reaction of Bella's father, Charlie. He is somehow glad to hear that his daughter injured herself in defense against Jacob when he kissed her against her will, and yet he cannot stand to see her with Edward, who is obviously respectful and decent. That is no way for a father to behave.

Despite my complaints, I still enjoyed Eclipse, though not as much as Twilight, which was definitely the best book in the series. Although there were quite a few things that did not fit, Stephenie Meyer kept me engrossed in the story with her edge-of-the-seat writing style and intriguing characters that I have come to love.

Stephenie Meyer Does it again!

In a world where two enemies are forced together, chaos reins. In the novel Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer, Bella, the main character, must make the most important decision of her life, Jacob or Edward and two worlds collide, the worlds of vampires and werewolves. Bella Swan is a normal high school student, except for the fact that her boyfriend is a vampire and her best friend is a werewolf.
This story is the third book in the "Twilight Saga". In this adventure Bella is hunted by three vicious groups, The Vultori, who either want Bella dead or a vampire, Victoria the vampire who wants revenge, and the newborn army of vampires. Bella must escape everything her enemies have in store for her while deciding between Edward and Jacob.
This is the first of Stephenie Meyer's series I have read; as soon as you open Twilight (the first book) it is impossible to stop reading. Meyer draws the reader into the book so that you cannot put it down. I read Eclipse in a few hours even though it is six hundred pages long. I have never had a taste for science fiction but this particular story is one I enjoyed and will continue to read many times. Meyer makes you care for characters as if they were your friends, or maybe even as if they were you. Not only is it a magnificent story, but Meyer's writing style draws you in as well. Although she has a talent for building suspense the book is equally as interesting when she is expressing Bella's thoughts and feelings.
As both an exciting, suspenseful read and a thoughtful character study, Eclipse is well worth it.

I loved Eclipse. . .

While I was intriged by the characters in Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse solidified my obsession. This book had great drama, romance, action, adverture, fantasy, freindship, and a simple love story of not-so-simple characters. I highly suggest this series for those who love a good story and an escape from reality. I know I did.

Also, I support Stephenie Meyer in her time if distress since her unfinished Transcript of Midnight Sun was realeased without her knowledge. There are many of us who cried right along with her to see her trust betrayed, and her character developement spoiled. We will wait for the real thing Stephenie. . .

Better than expected

When I realized that she was making it a love triagle, I was a bit annoyed, but Stephanie does a good job of keeping the rest of the book suspenseful. It was interesting to read more about Jacob's pack.

Eclipse is awesome!

The whole Twilight Saga is the greatest!! Eclipse is just as good as Twilight.
