This is what the "Cycle" book is like, as you learn the amazing story of a man who made a decision to follow his passion, committing to stay on track. And in doing so, he took notes on how he did it -- how he overcame the obstacles, how he created win-win situations for all involved -- and then he consolidated his ideas that brought him on the successful journey, while doing what he loves in life. You also learn about history, philosophy, and psychology! This books is about "real" and "true" success -- following and developing what is really you -- from your true center -- fulfilling your real purpose/dharma -- This book is NOT about following a career you hate, making money to impress people you'll never know, then years later realizing that many aspects of yourself is left empty and wanting -- while you're filled with self-regret.
Famularo has a tremendous ability to "hit" the reader on a deep level that really makes an impact -- not a temporary thought or transient, fleeting feeling -- but a real lasting impact. When reading this book, sometimes you will just want to get up and start right away, as you are suddenly hit with the realization of things that you really want in life, and that NOW is the time.
Before I read the book, I was often in a purposeless "rut" in the financial world, stuck in the mundane routine that a lot of us are in. But the book opened me up and I became aware that life is short, our passions are real -- and they are to be nurtured and shared -- which fulfills both ourselves and everyone. This is our "eternal flame" that just doesn't go away! So nurture it!
My awareness coupled with applying some of the books concepts brought me to face challenges and experience reward -- Now "in my element", I began to inspire and reach others through my writing, performing, teaching, and in everyday conversation and action. I began building a business also. Why? Because I began from the center of my onion, my flame, where my real passion, talent and purpose lies; and Famularo's book is about finding and nurturing this power within.
I look forward to using more of the concepts since my life changed drastically by applying some of them. This book is a must read, and written by an author who is extremely well-rounded, sees the "true", big picture, and is full of wisdom. Mr Famularo, should be applauded at every turn for writing a book that can be undrstood by the layperson, but has enough depth to ensure the expert will also gain something from his writing. He has a wonderful knack of taking his personal experiences and placing them into a context of sound advice and guidance that will allow us all to become better more productive people, while being happy at the same time! Regardless of our background, education or vocation.
The CYCLE OF EMPOWERMENT takes the reader from the fundamentals of self appraisal all the way to Self Actualization, without becoming boring. The book reads very much like a great novel, but teaches you every step of the way. The closest "educational" book I have read in the past, that is in a similar style would be THE WEALTHY BARBER. However, the advice given in the CYCLE OF EMPOWERMENT, goes well beyond financial security, it instead endeavours to probe our character find our weaknesses and then develop them making us stronger and more capable. What is especially nice about the book is the author opens up his own life and experiences to the reader, and pulls them in to a story of excitement and passion. By doing so, we can see how this successful drummer/speaker has progressed. It is neither trite nor is it dull. There is great humour within the pages and also heartwarming stories of a man who is obviously passionate about his life, his family his work and those he comes into contact with. For myself, I am willing to follow the guidance of those who have experienced things first hand and who show wisdom in their ideas. Mr. Famularo is a man who has obviously been in many challenging situations but by using his skill, passion and dedication has overcome all challenges. What is wonderful, is he shares those with the reader in a way that allows the reader to use that wisdom for their own success.
I am not a psychologist, nor someone who is an expert in human psychology, however, I have worked as a military officer and motivational speaker for 20 years and have seen people at their best and worst. This book could help each and every person I have met over those years, myself included. Since reading this book, I have changed my focus on my own life. I have begun to follow Mr Famularo's direction, and it is working. I have never been happier and I am now ... following my passions without regard for the ney sayers out there.
Mr. Maslow (Maslow's Hierachy of Needs), holds nothing to Mr Famularo. Bravo, Mr.Famularo on a book that is destined to be a classic for those wanting to improve themselves and the world around them.
I cannot give a higher recommendation for a book, if you have tried reading other books that appear dry try this one, you will not regret it! If you want to empower yourself, and really who does not, then this is your guide.
