Tasty and straightforward
My favorite part of the cookbook is that the
recipes
are straightforward. Comparing to recipes in the 'death by chocolate' series, the
Yard recipes
are not as time consuming and, to me, taste wonderful.
Good cookbook
I bought this cookbook because the
recipes looked
very interesting and I love new cookbooks! Defintely would recommend to anyone who loves to bake!

Great cookbook / memoirs - Must have for any pastry chef's library
Great book with great
recipes
, I have already baked about a dozen of the items in the book and they have come out great. My favorite recipe is the upside down mango cake. This book is a must have for any aspiring pastry chef and/or regular joe looking to bake.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. And fun too!!!
I saw this in the bookstore the other night and got Dorie Greenspan's book, but had to come back for it two days later. I stayed up most of the night reading it damn near
from cover
to cover. The pictures ALONE are worth the purchase, even if you don't
ever
use it! But use it you will.
This is such a fun cookbook, I love the anecdotes that are included with each recipe and how the book is a delicious timeline narrative of pastry HEAVEN. Starting from her childhood in
Brooklyn
to delighting Hollyood's elite, each recipe is bound to grace your table at least once and for many years to come. I was sold when I saw her version of "Thin Mints", as they are my favorite Girl Scout cookie too. I could go on and on about the
recipes
, White Chocolate Strawberry Buttermilk Cake, Forbidden Rice Pudding, even something simple as lemon ices, all kinds of fruity delicous drinks, I mean GAWD. This book is fvcking incredible.
Another aspect of the cookbook I enjoyed was her discussion of the fruits she used in the various recipes and how she created friendships with the farmers that she bought from in the markets, and the importance of buying locally - a hot topic these days.
While some recipes are a little more complex, they are all worth trying; even if you're not that experienced a baker, the steps are so thorough that she walks you through each one - even reading them you feel full of possibilities!
I can't wait to get to my grandmother's on Christmas Eve...I'm in charge of baking and it is about to be ON!!!!

Perhaps the top cookbook of 2007
There are hundreds of cookbooks in my collection, and I certainly don't have a dessert cookbook that compares to the quality of this one. I have certainly heard of the noted pastry chef Sherry
Yard
, but now I have a new respect for her! I love the short stories that accompany each recipe, and, I especially think the
recipes themselves
are timeless.
The first thing I am going to bake are the "Lemon Tea Biscuits". Ooohhh Yeahhh!!
