A daily request.

I am a preschool teacher and my three year olds request that I read this book everyday. A wonderful book to introduce different types of instruments. The rhyming and musical sounds keeps their attention and keeps them giggling. I think I may have it memorized by now. All the children have to discuss what instrument they want to learn when they grow up.

The Incredible Farkle McBride

My son loved this book. John Lithgow not only is an artist with words....he seems to know how to get inside the mind of a child and reach them.

We had to read it every night for two weeks!!!!!!!

Fantastic book for anyone interested in instrumental music...or

just wishing to introduce musical instruments to children. The dialog has a cadence and rhyme that makes the book enjoyable to the reader and listener. The illustrations are fantastic; colorful and accurate. This book goes one step further than just entertainment: it educates the reader/listener to the musical instruments of the orchestra. A must have for any early childhood library!

Every word is a pleasure

I love this book almost as much as my 3 year old son does, and that is A LOT! He demands that I read it at least once every night, just before bed, and I have to say that it's not a request that I shirk. I love this book; it is sheer poetry. I can recite most of it by heart. And the illustrations are a delight. This book has helped nurture his early passion for music, and that makes it all worth it.

Simply Wonderful

What more can be said than this is a wonderful book that teaches children not only about instruments, but about the importance of the entire orchestra. Lithgow has done a marvelous job. The cadence of the lyrics is as impressive as the messages that music is wonderful and that we can find our nitch in the world. Parents, as well as children, will enjoy this story.
