An object of art in itself.

Besides the fact that this is the definitive overview of Murakami's oeuvre, this monograph is also a beautiful example of the art of bookmaking. Be sure to take the dust jacket off to admire the binding. Kudos to designer Lorraine Wild.

Murakami

this is an excellent book especially if you are interested in art. this is traditional japanese pop art and yet also some untraditional japanese pop art . He is very unique but absolutely fabulous. This is a great book for an artist or photographer.
The work that he is doing is very unique and very exciting. This book has beautiful and totally awesome pictures. Thanks shara edwards

Murakami

This book is fantastic. The colour plates are gorgeous and like a halucination...I saw this for twice the price in Los Angeles and barely resisted it. Ordered it on line for 1/2 the price, and It's worth double...The commentary complement the clour plates well, and if you're interested in Murakami and looking for a comprehensive insight, then this is the tomb for you!

Fascinating and beautiful

Echoing what other reviewers have said...saw this at the exhibit in LA in December 2007. I balked at the $65.00 price but was ultimately talked into buying it. Being able to inspect a sample copy in the museum reading room clinched the purchase as well.
Of course, if I would have known Amazon would have had it for $41 I would have waited, but I don't regret it.
Like many artists, some of Murakami's pieces need to be seen directly due to their size, precision or subtle treatments, but this book is an excellent substitute.
