Perfect for Everyone

Everyone at one time or another must be a leader. I am twenty-six years old, and the first time that I assumed such a position was in high school sports. I wish that this book had been a part of the cannon taught in my school curriculum, as it provides lessons for everyone from the ages of fourteen to retirement and beyond. Many ideas presented here are ones that I had to learn the hard way. Other points have helped me to realize what I must do as I enter the professional world with the knowledge and potential to become a leader in my field. Anyone, at any point in his or her life, can benefit from "The Journey of the Accidental Leader."

Easy to Read, Easy to Learn

I truly enjoyed reading this book. From the moment I began reading the first page, I was transported into Sammy's world. Understanding the lessons from the character's point of view really helped me to objectively determine how to incorporate the learnings in my own leadership style. Steve Gladis has successfully taken a subtle approach to an extremely complex topic and delivered a compelling and impactful message. A must read for leaders at every level of their organization!

Very Worthwhile, No Matter What Your Position or Role

Steve Gladis is a soft-spoken leader himself. He commands respect in his speaking, coaching, and writing, because his ideas are true in all circumstances. Everyone is called upon to take leadership roles in our daily lives, and this is a "must read" for any thoughtful person.

Entertaining, authentic, informative

You can read this business fable front to back, or start at the last chapter ("Lessons on Leadership"), then continue from the beginning. Either way, you'll enjoy what you read. More than that, you'll want to personally thank the author for writing about leadership in such an engaging way. Gladis roots these leadership lessons in hard-won personal experience--and he preaches what he himself practices. But make no mistake--this book is not a thinly disguised sermon. Instead, it is a highly accessible parable about how to lead even when you don't want to, even when you make mistakes, even when the thing you most need is not the latest best-seller on how to succeed in business but rather the simple faith to take the next step on your accidental journey with compassion for yourself and others, and, yes, to do it all with grace.

I enjoyed this so much I'm buying a batch for all my staff

While I've been in a leadership position for some time now, I found myself reading this book and challenging my own actions and leadership style. The parable style in which it is written make it entertaining and instructive at the same time. I plan to use it with my team to hopefully cause them to all become "owners" of our business.
