Strega Nona

Strega Nona, by Tomie de Paola is a great book for young and old kids that love the medieval times. In the book, Strega Nona goes away then, her home is in danger. There are many funny events in this book. I believe that this book is something to check out.

The pictures are the best part! They might not say much. But, they are really funny. However, they would be better if the colors weren't so dull. The words are good too. They're very showing of the characters' feelings.

Each event caused Strega Nona to become even more known. Just like the events, the characters are very funny. The two main characters are Big Anthony and Strega Nona. Big Anthony is a young man who doesn't listen. As for Strega Nona, she is old lady who does nothing but listen.

This book is a great book to read to a kid who never does what they are supposed to do because in the book Big Anthony does not listen to Strega Nona then he gets in trouble. This book teaches young kids that if something is not yours do not touch it. Big Anthony made that mistake, and he will remember it forever.

Strega Nona is something I totally recommend. It is a really good book. After I read it, I wanted to read it twelve more times. You should definitely read it!

a fun way to intruduce a new language

My husband and I bought the book for the baby we are expecting, the drawings and the story are great and bring sweet memories from our italian roots. One important thing: please check the grammar before publishing!
(i.e in italian Grandma is written Nonna)

A Magical Lesson in Paying Attention

I love that my 2 year old tells me, "Mommy, Big Anthony DOESN'T pay attention" and knows why that's not a good thing! :) Strega Nona is truly one of those modern classics that just naturally appeals to kids without the need for sparkly junked up pictures or flashy pop ups. Tomie DePaola's drawings, of course, are lovely and this folky story about the consequences of not listening is appealing to little kids and their folks because it's magical and silly, yet meaningful and interesting. A bonus: I can ALWAYS get my two year old to eat pasta as long as I remind her how much Big Anthony LOVES pasta....This original story reads like an old fashioned, timeless folk tale and is not to be missed!

Strega Nona

Great Book! Excellent for children that do not listen. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was written in Spanish. I had to go to a local book store to purchase the English Version. Having both versions worked out for me as my son and daughter-in-law are going to teach my granddaughter to be bi-lingual.

STREGA NONA

I thought it was good. It was funny. The funny part was
that strega nona made Big Anthony eat all the noodles.
