A revelation
Having met the author a few times, I picked up "
Death
in
Slow
Motion
" with a sense of duty, dreading what I thought might be a grinding description of disease and despair. Well, there's plenty of both, but also humor and humanity that make this book a magical read even if, like me, you have no special experience or interest in
Alzheimer
's. The author uses her
mother's battle
, and her own, to hold up a mirror to the love, guilt, suffering, and hope that make us human, and somehow, at the end, I felt I knew myself a little better. Miraculously, she finds not only pain but laughter in the ordeal. Three-word review: wow.

This book is a refreshing change from the boring norm
I have read many but this tops them all. It's above and beyond 5 stars. If you met the
beast
called
alzheimer
's and you are the primary caregiver, YOU MUST READ THIS. EC is a remarkably talented writer that simply should not go unnoticed.
She gets down and dirty--right to the nitty gritty details you won't find in other books. I am at a point where I really need to see, hear myself, not knowing quite how to express the nastiness of it all. EC did it for me! This book sure gave me a lift from all the stress, pain, frustration, guilt and all the other e
motional baggage
that AD makes us carry. FINALLY, there is somebody else out there saying everything I am thinking/feeling while trying to manage my own life and Mom's. This book is written with quite a different style/format from the norm that I really appreciated.--I chose to change course for just a minute-from reading the AD websites, chat rooms, and all the other literature/handouts/seminars describing AD, and I took this "new ride" by reading this book. This is the one and only AD rollercoaster ride that I absolutely enjoyed--loved every minute of it! --A masterpiece it is. On another note,--If you have siblings that just don't "get it",--send them a copy.

I highly recommend this book.
This is an extremely well-written, highly engaging book. I picked it up with the intention of only glancing through it, but I got hooked almost immediately. It is a tale not only of a
daughter dealing
with the terrible strain of a
mother with
Alzheimer
's, it is a tale of a fascinating life (the mother's)that was lost to the disease. This is a realistic account of life with Alzheimer's disease. It is not pretty, but it will prepare you for what to expect and help you to avoid possible pitfalls. I would highly recommend this book to any reader, even if Alzheimer's disease is not on your personal radar screen. This book is a really terrific read.

A must read - pitiless and unladylike as the disease itself
For all of us as we age and/or take care of an elderly parent(or thinking about it) it is a BLUNT but endearing book which tells it as it is! A master of words and an incredibly talented writer, E.C.'s book is a must read for all of us, a mirror for what we may face ourselves or may face by taking on an aging parent's care. She prepares us for a tough and rewarding LOVE! No sugarcoating as those who are caregivers will realize and helping us to maybe feel a little less guilty. "
Death
..." is a literary self-help book which allows us to draw our own conclusions; it accompanies us, it shows us that we are not alone and that it is OK to seek help when things get tough! But don't expect it to be easy; there is always the guilt and the reward! ENJOY the book, pitiless and unladylike as the disease itself.
