I wasn't blown away but it was ok

As a whole this book was ok. It dragged for at least the first half of the book and would've benefited from a good editor. To be fair I just ended the Stephanie Plum series and I'm not sure anything will compare after that.

a is for attitude

I read this several years ago, and recently decided to re-read it. I was surprised at the bad attitude Kinsey displays to many of the people she meets. She's tough, independent and rude.

The mystery is fairly entertaining, but complicated. I would advise a reader to take careful notes of some minute details that tie together the characters. This isn't the casual read I thought it was.

Be ready for excessive profanity and some steamy scenes.

A Perfect Introduction...

I'm not sure if writer Sue Grafton is like protagonist Kinsey Millhone, but I fell in love with both. I was drawn into the seaside town of Santa Teresa, wanted to have brunch with landlord Henry, or tag along with Kinsey for a Quarter-Pounder. Grafton creates a soothing setting which makes her mysteries all the more spectacular... she has proven herself a true master.

Beginning of the Alphabet Soup...

I've been hearing about Sue Grafton's alphabet series forever and decided to give it a try. I did read N is for Noose a couple of years ago and liked it. Now, I've bought the first three volumes of the omnibus forms of the book and am starting from the beginning. A is for Alibi is a lighter mystery than I'm used to reading, with hints of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. All in all, a nice, entertaining read.

Gripping

I normally find the suspense/thriller type book tedious to read but this was easy to start, the characters have a real independent personality and aren't cliched stereotypes of the authors imagination. And the ending had me wide awake at 2am!
