Great characters, grim story
I am always attracted to stories that have characters with whom I can sympathize. I also like thrillers. Allison Brennan's
Evil series
has interesting characters such as Carina Kincaid of the expansive Kincaid family. You don't have to read the books in order to enjoy them, but it helps to understand the arc of characters. The serial murders in all her books are grim, of course. The redeeming feature is the battle of wits between the depraved and the law. Personally I find the sex scenes gratuitous and distract from an otherwise challenging suspense story. On the other hand, in this particular book,
Speak
No Evil, the all too realistice concept of "friends with benefits", a dreadful development of the 21st century in the USA, is examined. As in this book, it leads to superficial relationships that lead to problems with friendships and lasting significant relationships. The hostage situation at the climax was all too realistic. Enjoy.

A Really Good Mystery, Suspense and Romance Novel
Rarely do you find all three done well in one
novel
, mystery, suspense and romance. This was my first book by this author and I've already bought the rest of the trilogy. I see now that this trilogy is connected to her previous one, which I would like to read too. The book incorporates police procedurals and family dynamics into a complex story line, but one that comes together well. I couldn't put it down once I picked it up! This book does have very explicit sex and violence.

Excellent From Beginning to End. A+++
This book to me was a perfect blend between suspence and romance. It was a well written spine- tingling story that to me was so real and vivid it had me looking over my shoulder.

Excellent! A little gory, but a great, fast read.
So here's a book that starts out very gory and I actually wasn't going to finish it, but I did want the culprit to get caught (and find out who it was) so I kept on reading and the book only got better. This book really keeps you moving along, mainly because you want the culprit to fry. Yes, I would buy this book again and I have bought her other two.
Excellent!
This is another stay up late, edge of your seat, can't put it down story from Ms. Brennan. The action is fast paced, the characters are likeable, and the suspense is gripping. I read this one out of order (it was my first Allison Brennan book), not realizing it was the same series as The Prey, The Hunt, & The Kill. The change of title fooled me into thinking I had book 1 of a new series. However, that did not effect my enjoyment of the book. It has a few references to The Kill, but not so much you feel the need to put it down and read the other first. It stands on it's own. I immediately ran out and bought the rest of her books when I finished this one.
