The Truth of it All
An excellent read that shows what people can overcome even in a time of continuous challenges. Doctors are people too. They may have years of training and experience, but they are human and make mistakes. Good for you Dawn Atkinson for being the brave person you are. I got completely wrapped up in
this book
two times. Who knows where you and your beautiful son would be if you were not the brave person you were and are. Your an inspiration to ask the physicians questions, rather than just let the Doctor do what the book says.
Fantastic Book
Dawn, you have captured the very trials and tribulations that I too am living through with my youngest daughter. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to write
this inspiring
book - I only wish something like this was available when my Courtney was born (not possible as Jake and Courtney are only a couple of months different in age). The similarities between Jake and Courtney are amazing. I too have dealt with a lot of the issues you raise in your book and although I wouldn't wish our
children's disabilties
on anyone, I am a much stronger and more learned person for having her in my life. I will be recommending your book to various support agencies in New Zealand and my other international contacts so that other parents know they are not alone in their daily struggles with their severely disabled child.
Thank you for your honesty, your continued strength and more importantly your online friendship.

This
book is great. For almost every experience, I could instantly think of a story in my
journey with
my daughter Kaitlyn that I could relate. Dawn is also very funny and it was nice to have the humor in the book. I didn't think with everything going on in my life with Kaitlyn that I would have time to finish the book like I did. I couldn't put it down. Great job.
Best book I've ever Read
I read it in two days, then later read it again. I laughed and cried and had every emotion in between. I find myself referring to it often in conversations with other people, whether it's someone in the medical profession, or a parent, or someone dealing with their own fight in life. Dawn Atkinson showed the emotional turmoil she was going through and the strength she found to fight back. I have gained a deeper understanding of what it's like for anyone involved in the life of a special needs
child
, or anyone fighting to show they are somebody and not just a number. I learned that we can disagree and sometimes we know what's best for ourselves or our loved ones.
This
is a very touching story and I recommend it to everyone. I doubt if there is single person that can read this book and not learn something from it, and ride an emotional roller coaster with Mrs. Atkinsons powerful words.

AWESOME
I really enjoyed the book! For a first time writer, Dawn is excellent. I admire her courage and strength to write
this book
in her own words. She is a tell it like it is woman and wants to do what is best for her
child
and I think this book can be very educational for moms and or parents with severely handicapped children.
