Wonderful
This was a wonderful book that I would suggest to anyone, and in particular to those who have ever felt the weight of guilt on their shoulders.
Prepare to be Haunted
From the opening scene to the very satisfying and powerful close, I was swept into this story.
Poignant, heart-gripping, powerfully soul-stirring - The
Last
Sin
Eater contains
all that I need and want in a story.
The mountain air, as described by River's word mastery, raised goosebumps across my skin. Cadi's grief and obsession pricked and then twisted my heart.
Written with dialect, full of tragedy, some violence and deep spiritual truth - this book may not appeal to all. But I recommend this novel to those who love to be swept into bigger things, things that change the heart and open the eyes.
Peace Like a River, Memoir of a Geisha, Year of Wonders - if those stories have found their way onto a favorite list - The Last Sin Eater will likely join them.

True Believers will get a refresher course
True believers will read and get a renewal on who Christ is. They should give their books to others that will need their eyes cleared.
The best of Francine just might be The LAST Sin Eater!
In all honesty, I don't know how she does it. I really don't. She certainly does it through Christ Jesus, and it comes out remarkable! It is easy to see why this is now a motion picture, one that I can't WAIT to see after taking this in. As with most of her other titles, you really don't know what to expect. You think you do... YOU DON'T! You have a simple idea of what's to come, but NO CLUE of the surprises held within.
She did this in the first person of Cadi Forbes. She also wrote this in a style that is practically Celtic. But I think she just wanted to tell the story through Cadi, and let readers eagerly find something out about "The
Last
Sin
Eater
." First of all, WHAT is a SIN EATER?! Well, in this case it is an unknown human being (to some people, some know who it is) and it is supposed to take away the sins of the departed. You just give the mysterious figure some bread and wine at the funeral, and WHOOSH!! Bye bye, SIN! It sounds like a great deal. You dare not suggest otherwise to Brogan Kai and his clan, they'd kill you over it. If that were the story, it might be pretty bland. But Francine isn't going to let you go with just that, she isn't a feel-good author with just a good meal (burp) and then you read another one of her works. I don't think so! Francine Rivers is bold enough to throw in that 2 word question that we don't always like. That question is "What if?" Oh no! Hey, OH YES!!! She throws in what if's whether we like it or not. You don't like "what if's" then you don't read Francine, amen? And consider this: better yet WHO is the Sin Eater? Read on!
What if a supposed "Man of God" showed up in this glen? What if certain people held secrets? And what if certain others show objections? Yeah, it all happens here! And on top of that, Cadi is becoming quick friends with Brogan Kai's son, Fagan, and he's in on this too. They want to meet the Sin Eater! But they also are curious enough to find out what this man of God might have to say. Does he speak the truth? What if he hits a nerve, and people don't like it?
In a day and age where you probably shouldn't ask too many questions, (happens to be the 1850s in this case) you get answers, dear reader. You won't always get easy answers, Francine never makes it easy. There are at least a couple of broken hearts when you read her. And if you happen to crack open this with a broken heart, please remember that it can be mended. If I could mention simply one theme of this, it would be that NOTHING is impossible with God. Goodness, this is great and awesome stuff! And it's special. I've never read anything by Rivers that I didn't consider special. People will read Francine Rivers 100 years from now, and for good reason!

Surprisingly good.
I purchased this as a gift for my wife. (She read it in a day and a half.) I picked it up and was hooked within the first few pages. Good story and told in an interesting manner. Looking forward to seeing the
