Amazing

Knowing that I wouldn't last a day at Seal training I was impressed with the ability of the author to make it seem like you were right there with the guys; freezing in the 55 degree water, doing PT to failure, and the constant barage of yelling and insults.

If you have any interest into the lives of our most highly trained fighters then buy this book, it will open your eyes to what unbelievable lengths are human bodies can go.

squrt 29

Very real, a page turner that I found impossible to put down. You feel the abuse, the cold and the gradual physical beating down of the BUDS students as they face the elements and the dark side of their instructors.

Truly impressive account of BUD/S training

I've read every SEAL BUD/S book I can get my hands on. I'm always looking for books about the training and have immensely enjoyed books like "Class-29," "Warrior Elite", and "You Want Me To Do What?". They're all excellent, but this one stands out because of its realism (if indeed it's accurate. After all, it is a work of fiction.) If it's real, then this is by far the most realistic description of the training I've seen. The characters are cliche but if the detail is accurate, then holy cow, these guys go through some really, really serious stuff. One thing about the level of detail is that you can feel how cold BUD/S students become. Your muscles burn and you ask yourself how the human body can endure such pain? I'm too old to be in the Navy but I've always read these accounts with a wishful desire to try it out. This is the very first account where I have seriously questioned why in the world I'd want to put myself through what these guys do. And for me this is quite a change since I'm constantly thinking about how I would have liked to try it. But now I'm not so sure. So if gritty, cold realism is what you want, and if this book is truly accurate, then pick this up and enjoy a great read.

"Awwwed" in Silence!!!!!!

Ya know, I own many novels on SEALs, And the biggest thing I get from this most recent novel is how different the instructors seem to be compared to those has been described in the novels going farther back in the 60's-80's when they use to have two training units, east and west coast. I'm not saying the instructors are not as tough on training or even tougher, but they way they address their students is far more vulgar than I've ever read. Not at all this bothers me and inch, but I remember reading,At least In "CLASS 29", an east coast training unit that the instructors were every bit as hard on the traines but hardly ever used open profanity, saying something like using cuss words is unprofessional and whatnot. But I really really injoyed this novel and it gave a updated view on whats going down in the ever crazy, and bizzare world of NAVY SEAL training. Highly recommend it.

Suffer in Silence

This book describes the ordeal of BUD/S in detail that makes it come alive. The plot of the book is a little weak though and in my opinion detracts from the picture he paints of the toughest training in the United States military.
