A very subtle, beautiful and loving book
What reaches out to you in this book is the selfless love of Shri Mataji, trying to convey to us what it is that we are lacking to reach the ultimate goal of self realization. Not only does she point it out but also gives the solution to get rid of it and reach inner peace and joy. Here is a brief excerpt that touched me really deeply:
"...To me, most of the human beings are like the deities who are still in stone form and who can be transformed, with Kundalini awakening, into angels. I hope that with this book I will not hurt people. On the contrary, I hope to be able to get many more people in this great work of Sahaja Yoga, by which they can achieve the ultimate goal of their search. I have to use humor, because by nature I am very humorous and I see humor in every kind of incident, which people sometimes take very seriously.
It is too much for a Mother to talk about the ills of her children, but unless that is faced, I don't think the children can ever get their benevolence and reach the ultimate goal, which is their self-realization. So I would ask all of you not to get angry with me, but to understand that out of my tremendous compassion and love, I have written this book for the benevolence of the people, with whatever English I can use, with whatever lit
era
ture I can use, with whatever style I could adopt."

An extremely valuable guide to KNOW who you are
Most of us, when we are in our teens start coming out on our own and begin understanding of what the world is like. We begin to grow out of the certainties of the environs of our homes and start realizing that the real world is anything but. In this process of growing up, our personalities are shaped by a multitude of factors including education, peers, work, family etc.
During all this, some of us sense that something is missing. We realize it when we are overjoyed by laughter of a small child, or when we listen to music we love or when we are close to nature. Each of us develops a haven in our own little world to which we retreat when things get tough. Sometimes we long for something better, without knowing what that "thing" actually is.
How then should we try to decipher order within chaos that sorrounds all of us? Without any doubt, the pace of life is increasing and while we devote tremendous energies to feeding our bodies, we dont realize that our souls need it too.
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi has founded just the method required for realizing actually who we are. This amazing discovery is that of Sahaja Yoga and this book is about how integration of Sahaja Yoga in our daily, political, economical and social life will profoundly change humanity. But it all starts with KNOWING who we are. (For more details visit, www.sahajayoga.org)
I have been practising Sahaja Yoga for the past 8 years and without doubt this is the most fantastic thing to have ever happened to me. Never ever have I seen or heard anyone except Shri Mataji who has integrated all the religions of the world. I am as much a Muslim as a Christian or a Hindu or a Jain, Sikh or Jew or Buddhist.
In the course of history, many philosophers have spent their entire life to understanding who we are, what is our purpose, what is life. And as such a journey that takes expands your consciousness and increases your faculties requires effort on the part of the seeker. If one does not put in efforts and as a result does not see the result then who is to blame here? Unfortunately, some such people have also put reviews here. I can only ask the reader to be open minded and continue in the same spirit of seeking that brought him/her to this place.
As to questions of Shri Mataji being wealthy or Sahaja Yoga being a cult, I can only say that you need to experience it your self for no matter how much one can say or hear, ultimately its ones own experience that counts.

Common sense to global issues
I have recently read
Meta
Modern
Era
and i can do nothing, but highly recommend this book to anyone looking for common sense in a world of disallusion and taking steps in a direction towards finding peace within themselves and in the world. Shri Mataji has been working tirelessly traveling all over the world to try to spread the message of Sahaja Yoga for the benefit of humanity. In this book, she talks about all the problems we face from loss or morality in our culture to problems in the economy to problems with religion. The message in this book is a portrait of our current world in a down to earth view so that we are able to see that we as a human race still have much to learn and grow.
I have been practicing Shri Mataji's system of Sahaja Yoga for almost 3 years now and I can objectively say it has changed my life very much. Regarding these allegations against Sahaja Yoga, I have traveled around the world to other places where Sahaja Yoga is practiced and no one has ever charged me money for Sahaja Yoga. It will always be free because that is the way Shri Mataji has always said it must be because it is about experiencing something which innately is inside of every human being. To me that would be like paying to watch a flower grow. It does take donations in order to hold programs to spread sahaja yoga more, which is absolutely no different than any other non-profit organization. No to mention that no one is going to be sticking a donation box in your face or barely putting too much attention it for that matter.
Second Sahaja yoga is no cult. The word 'cult' is to suggest that Sahaja Yoga has something to hide, but on the contrary it does not hide anything at all. When you go to a program you will get the experience of Self-Realization first, because in order to understand what this system is all about you have to first see what you have within you. Then you have to see for yourself if it is true what is being said. This is a common sense thing, because if you stop seeing if something is true or not then you start buying into blind faith, which is not something Sahaja Yoga supports at all. It's possible that these people who have misunderstood Sahaja Yoga and suggest it is trying hide something be aware to the simple fact that you can't explain everything about Sahaja Yoga in one and a half hour just the same as you can't understand the entirity of of a deep subject such as physics in one night. It takes a lifetime to experience and to constantly understand because it has to do with the human experience and the transformation into something higher.
Also no one is giving me orders or such non-sense. I'm rating this book out of my own desire since i was very impressed with the book and the clarity it gave me. I really don't know where people get these silly ideas.
Finally i would like to say to all people who are reading this review and are interested in Sahaja Yoga please look at it with an objective view since i know there are a few negative reviewers with very outrageous allegations. I don't know exactly who these few people are but maybe it's possible that someone who has practiced Sahaja Yoga has given them the wrong idea or done something hurtful to them that has given them the wrong impression. Know that Sahaja Yoga is being practiced in over 80 countries all over the world and there are thousands of sahajs yogi's who are very earnestly trying to do their best to understand and live the message within the Meta Modern Era. Please don't let the negative opinions of a select few with unknown motives sly you away from something which could be something you are seeking.

Best book ever read
The book deals with reality of life very well.I felt the Author is honest and very bold to talk about the truth of life.I think we all need to know and face the truth as written by the Author. My salutations to the Great Author. The book is very practical and talks about inner peace, love and joy which can be achieved only from inside.I totally agree with this.If one is not happy/joyous on inside ,how he/she can be happy outside. In the end the Author has given a solution as to how to achieve the inner peace and joy.The inner knowledge has been talked about in India from ancient times. The book is precisely talking about this aspect. It is talking about religion inside which is true. That is what many saints have talked about. It is common sense. If you are not righteous or moral on inside, how you can be moral outside.Lot of seekers all over the world are looking for this knowledge and that is what book is precisely about.I thank the Author for writing such a book.
Recommend highly.
