The Best C.D. Ever!

"I Hope You Dance" is the best country album ever made. It has already become a classic. Womack mesmerized audiences with her first two albums, "Lee Ann Womack" and "Some Things I Know", both of which showcased her beautiful voice and excellent song selection. She tops herself again with "I Hope You Dance". The title track was a smash hit and crossed over to pop radio. It's a beautiful song about wishing the best for someone. Womack sings about things that matter, and her material is often serious. However, she co-wrote "I Feel Like I'm Forgetting Something" and this is a great uptempo, lighthearted song. Womack does not choose cookie-cutter songs, she sings songs that have a message and express emotion. The opening track "The Healing Kind" is done very believably. An often overlooked track is "After I Fall", a beautiful ballad about falling in love with somebody without being afraid of how it will turn out. "I Know Why The River Runs" is the best song on the album, a lovely song about the loss of a lover. "Why They Call It Falling" is a clever song with a play on words and describes falling in love to falling out of love. "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger" is a catchy tune with a little attitude to balance out all the soft songs on the album. And last, but not least is "Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good". A cover song that Lee Ann does wonderfully. This is Lee Ann Womack's best album so far. It still has the country roots, but also sounds fresh at the same time, a rarity in country music today.

Leeann Womack is supporting George W. Bush

Leeann Womack has thrown her support behind George Bush. (...)
She has surely hereby sacrificed a large portion of her buying public - perhaps she doesn't care or is unaware of this fact, but she does not have the same all-white, all-Southern, testosterone-fuelled audience as the male Country stars who have come out for Bush. They don't have to worry, their fans are die-hard Republicans.

I welcome her honesty, but it does mean I won't be buying anything she does from now on. (...)

Who else will join the boycott and let Lee Ann hear the voice of her fans?

Fantastic album

This is a wonderful album. It's very mellow in that the songs are mostly ballads and mid-tempo. It's also a modern country album, but retains a little bit of traditional country. "Ashes By Now" and "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger" are traditional, but not too traditional for me to enjoy.

"Does My Ring Burn Your Finger" is the best song on the album and my favorite; the opening guitar work in the beginning is so magnificent that I keep putting that part on repeat, and her drawl expresses the attitude in the song. I love sassy attitude songs. :)

The rest of the songs have enjoyable melodies except for "Lonely Too," which doesn't stand out. "The Healing Kind," "Why They Call It Falling," and "Stronger Than I Am" are especially touching ballads.

This is a very smooth album and it keeps the mellow mood throughout, even on the faster tempo songs. It's a fantastic album.

Lee Ann Womack Shines on this

It's been a long time since someone has come out with an album, and song as powerful as I Hope You Dance. And the whole album also. I Hope you Dance is not just a song that was picked up, and played by radio stations, then dropped. This song has staying power like few others, still hear it on the radio all the time, and still understand the Raw talent of Lee Ann. She is pure country, and know's her way around the county music scene.

Wow!

Lee Ann Womack is the Queen of Relationship Songs in Country Music. She also goes back to traditional country. Here are my ratings for each song on her album:
The Healing Kind: Great... sounds a lot like Dolly Parton. (5 stars)

I Hope You Dance: Outstanding title track... well sung. (5 stars)

After I Fall: Great track... Fans shouldn't skip it while listening to the album. It's a very under rated track. (5 stars)

Stronger than I Am: Cool... a song about moving on (5 stars)

I Know Why the River Runs: Amazing!! Tied for my all time favorite Lee Ann Womack song... Breathtaking and lengthy. (5 stars)

Why they call it Falling: Wow. (5 stars)

Ashes by Now: Great... I love the tag Lee Ann does in this song. (5 stars)

Thinkin' With my Heart Again: Sung really soft and low and not too lengthy. (4 stars)

I Feel Like I'm Forgetting Something: Beautiful... Uptempo, just the way I like it. Co-written by Lee Ann. (5 stars)

Lonely Too: Okay... but doesn't appeal to me like the other songs on Lee Ann's album. (4 stars)

Does My Ring Burn Your Finger: Great... I love Lee Ann's voice in angst. Like an 'Alanis Morissette' in country. (5 stars)

Lord I Hope this Day is Good: Excellent!! The Bluegrass side of Lee Ann. Like a prayer... tied for my favorite Lee Ann Womack song. However, if this was another chorus long it would have been. (5 stars)

Definitely worth buying!
