I might want to dissappear too

Mr. Perry's latest put me in mind of the great (part) Native American dissappearance artist he has written so much about. Since I REALLY miss her it was a welcome part of the plot. A former cop, now private detective, helps a woman hide herself from a murdering music executive (who knew?)who kills her friend by accident. When her old boyfriend and ex-business partner gets accused of murdering her (a dastardly ploy to bring her out of hiding), the PI has a case of conscience (and the hots) and goes looking for her. Well, he convinces her to come back to give evidence that she is not dead to free the old boyfriend. Cue the assassins, who try to kill her and the PI at every turn. This is one of Mr. Perry's rich and varied character driven plots and you get to see into the psyches of all involved, which is what drives the book. From an insecure (and deranged) ex-porn star now assassin wife to an assassin husband team of two, to the really sociopathic music exec ("prince of darkness"), and the lonely ex-cop, this is a page turner! A must read.

Another Spellbinding Story from Mr. Perry

I came across this book last week at a bookstore and I snapped it up immediately, because I think that Thomas Perry is one of the most engaging writers that I have found on the literary market today. Once I started to read Silence I found that it was impossible to put down. One reason is that Mr. Perry is a master at having separate scenarios taking place, and blending them seamlessly. Another reason is that the pace of the story didn't give me too much time to catch my breath, and I sure didn't want to put the book down. I found the story to be a very satisfying reading experience that had crisp dialogue, and a fine development of the relationship between Jack Till and Wendy Harper, and the usual supporting cast of tough and loyal characters. Excellent reviews have already been posted that detail the story so I won't add more print, except to say that that the ending kept me guessing.

Thomas Perry "Lite"

Thomas Perry explores familiar territory in Silence: Making someone 'vanish' by creating new identities, new ways to act around people. The only problem I had with this terrific page turner was The Turners. C'mon, gimme a break: A tango dancing husband/wife assassin team? To add icing on the cake, the wife is a former porn star. I thought the whole concept was way over the top. I felt the same about his comic thriller 'Metzger's Dog' after reading the previous hit-man masterpiece 'Butcher's Boy'.
Silence is a great read, and the ending is outstanding, but I'm just one that appreciates Thomas Perry on the stone cold serious side.

What a great book

This is my first time reading a book by Thomas Perry. It was a real page turner. The suspense keeps building and I had to keep reading page after page, I could not put the book down. I need to read his other books now. If you like thrillers with interesting characters and fast paced books, pick this one up.
