The test is more difficult

Be prepared for a test that is more difficult than Cracking the CBEST suggests. For example, the book has sample problems on interpreting a table of contents. The samples are VERY easy; however, the test presented much more difficult questions of this type. Also, Cracking the CBEST presents easier essay prompts and misleadingly shows how to write a 4 point passing essay on down to a 1 point failing essay. The problem in Cracking the CBEST is that the 4 point (passing essay) examples are not that well-written and the the 3 point (marginal pass essay) examples are A LOT less well-written. Trust me as an English major, they grade the essays on a much more challenging scale than this book leads you to believe!

P.S. Afterward lots of people expressed being stumped on a question that required knowing how many yards are in a mile. It doesn't hurt to know this as you study a conversion chart.

Helped accomplish my goal.

After being out of school for 13+ years, I had lost the mind-set needed to pass a test like the CBEST. This book was a good refresher course and I highly recommend it. I don't think I would have passed the CBEST without it.

I did almost as well on the math portion as the reading portion. There's no way that this would have been possible without this book.

Take the time to go through all of this book including the two quizzes, and you should do just fine on the CBEST.

CRACKING THE CBEST, 2nd Edition PRINCETON

This study guide made all of the difference. Unfortunately, I did not look at the reviews first and spent several frustrating weeks with the first review book. The last few days before the CBEST, I picked up the "Cracking the CBEST." At that point, I was completely certain that I would never pass. After 5 days with Cracking the CBEST, however, I walked in to the exam with confidence and PASSED! Buy this one first!

Using this book I passed the CBEST without any problems, some of the problems on the CBEST were exactly like the ones in the book.

A Good Study Guide for CBEST

This is the only book I studied for CBEST. I studied this book for about 2 weeks and passed all 3 sections on CBEST on my very first attempt. Well explained and summarized. If you don't have much time left before the test but want to be ready for the test, I would strongly recommend this book for the best preparation.
