Good reading, insightful, a little weird

There's something unsettling about Palahniuk's writing style - something that seems just not quite right - but his stories always pull me in and I have to read until the story's finished. All of the essays here had the same effect on me. Some are simply weird and appeal to the Beavis in us all ("Testy Festy"). Most are glimpses into cultural cast asides that we miss because we aren't looking. I liked the personal essays that mostly revolve around the reactions by Palahniuk and others in response to the success of the film "Fight Club."

Good reading that makes you look a little harder at everything you take for granted.

title mis-leading

I am not too sure why this is titled "Stranger than Fiction" because most of these stories didn't strike me as all that strange. The first certainly did, but thereafter the title's applicability failed. As an example, the longest story is about some guys who buil ttheir own castles, and live in them. It is certainly unusual, but I didn't see it as "stranger than fiction."

Another brilliant read

I love Chuck Palahniuk's writing because he has an amazing way of drawing you into his storytelling - even with short stories. Highly recommended

Possibly Chuck's best

I know a lot of people mainly read Chuck's fiction, but I have to say that I consider this to be right up there with fight club as possibly his best work. It is as entertaining as his novels but possibly better, because of the reality to these stories.

A Mixed Bag: Some Great, Some Merely Good

I really like Palahniuk's fiction and although there are some great pieces in this non-fiction collection, some of it feels like mere filler. The pieces that are great though, really stand out and are some of the best things he's ever written.
