The Rocket Review Rocks!
Not only does the
Rocket
Review
make
SAT preparation
fun and easy, it also helped me get my score up by 230 points!
success story
I took the
SAT
in May having had no SAT prep or practice, besides the PSATs, and recieved a 2190/2400 and a 9/12 on the essay. I was satisfied, but felt that I could have done much better on the essay.
So, I signed up for the June SATs and went and bought Adam Robinsons "The
Rocket
Review Revolution
: The
Ultimate
Guide
to the
New
SAT." I practiced the essays, and even had one personally scored by Adam via e-mail. I also spent 1-2 hours a week for the four weeks of May studying for the other sections through the book.
On the June test I got a 2290/2400, and a perfect 12/12 on the essay! My math score went up 90 points and my critical reading score went up 110 points for a total increase of 200 points!
I highly reccommend this book, it is very helpful and comprehensive, and the team behind it is easy to contact with questions via email, and responds promptly. Plus, it gives results!

The
Rocket
Review Revolution
is an amazing resource. Anyone who is preparing for the
SAT
must have this book and the accompanying software. (included in the price) I am a tutor concentrating only on the
new
SAT essay. At the time I saw the author, Adam Robinson, on the Today show, I had already been conducting classes for about 6 months in preparation for the new SAT test. After listening to what he had to say, I was immediately intrigued. The concept of actual SAT "type" computer scoring to evaluate the essay was something that I knew would be invaluable to me and my students, IF it worked. I was on the web site within the hour, and submitted a LOT of questions. I was contacted by Adam Robinson, personally, within the next hour. He was particularly interested in talking to me because I am a teacher.
After talking with Mr. Robinson, I checked out his credentials on the web. I found out that he is THE EXPERT when it comes to SAT test analyses, and preparation strategies. I bought the book that afternoon. After I reviewed the book and software, I used it on a trial basis with my next class. Today, it is the only text that I use. The entire book is well written, to the point, never dry, often humorous, and, most importantly, it talks directly to the student. You certainly can't beat the price, either! In the essay class that I teach, the book provides students with all of the insights on the SAT essay, specifically how it is really graded, and spells out all of the critical do's and don'ts a student needs. I use only the Essay and the vocabulary portions of the book, BUT, it covers the entire SAT!
On the software side, the practice essay prompts and the SAT type scores are high quality, consistent, and amazingly accurate. When an essay is submitted on-line, my students and I can quickly (within seconds) obtain an analysis of the essay. The report includes the overall score, specific recommendations for improvement and additional sub scores for critical factors like: relevance and sophistication. The computer scoring report has another huge benefit to me. It is always objective and just states the facts. My students know that the system consistently treats everyone the same and always uses the exact same scoring criteria. Once the scored report is received, it presents an ideal forum for me to work with my students on an individualized basis, to address their specific needs and design appropriate strategies. The student revises each essay resubmits it, and receives a new score. We can quickly determine what progress has been made and what areas still needs more reinforcement. This type of immediate feedback and reinforcement is invaluable to both my students and to me. The students also ENJOY this method a lot! Using what they learn in class and read in the text, they keep trying to "win" and "beat the system" .....improving their scores all along the way! I find this blend of teaching methods works extremely well for me and for my students. The "system" and I are able to work together to enhance the learning opportunities for each of my students. This combination definitely has "fast tracked" the amount of improvement that I see in each of my students over the 6 weeks!
From a teacher's perspective, it definitely works. I never realized how much more effective I could be as a tutor, until RocketReview Revolution. It certainly created a real "revolution" in my teaching style and methods.... for the better! I would never go back. The product, and the continuing support of Adam Robinson and his RocketReview team, is invaluable to me and to my students.

Legendary Methods
5.0 out of 5 stars A book that I trust very much , April 23,

I took the
SAT
's my junior year in High School. Prior to taking the test I was looking to find prep books for the Test, but I felt like no one had any idea what they were talking about. Everyone told me to buy the big blue book from the company that administers the SAT. I did this, however despite being great for having old tests to practice with there were not any other resources. I was in Barnes and Noble looking for test prep books because I was always anti-tutoring; I felt that it never really went any where you need to know how to take the test, plan your time, and know what to expect. I had never heard of the
Rocket
Review prior
to this time, however I did approach one of the sales reps who claimed that she did know a thing or two about SAT test prep books. She had nothing bad to say about this book, she said that she recommends buying the blue books as did everyone else, but she also said that Robinson was the man who perfected the Joe Blogs tool. I shook my head as if I k
new what
that meant, and then she showed it to me in the Princeton Review prep book. Joe Blogs- it is a strategy that helps make an educated guess when you don't know the answer 100%.
I am not here to knock any authors or books, but looking through the Princeton Review
guide
I did not see much help. The Rocket Review focuses a little less on spending time to take the test, but more time on a strategy that will help you feel more confidently walking in to the test. I decided to take this book on, as my main source of preparation. The best part about this book, was reading the comments, and the way the book went around choosing a correct answer, and planning my time.
As a guide for the SAT in addition to taking practice tests from the Blue Book, it is the best tool I could have found, and I have recommended this book to everyone I know.
It does not claim to give you 300 points just for reading the book, and its not a heavy read at all. But using this guide as a resource can only help, and it helps a lot.
So if you are a parent, or a student. Great book, I have nothing but good things to say.
Age 18, University of Southern California.
