OH MY GOD WHAT A STORY!

This Bitter Earth is one of the most thought-provoking stories I've ever read. It takes up where Sugar the first novel left off and OH MY GOD ... what a story!

Bernice McFadden has the ability to tell a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and will have you dreaming about the story. Sugar, Jude, Joe, Pearl, and Lappy are unforgetable characters and will stay with you long after you've finished the book.

If you haven't read any of her books, you should do yourself a favor and buy all of them. You will not be disappointed.

Not As Sweet As Sugar, But Still Good

This book started off just where Sugar left off.

I like how all the family ties all came together. How people in Sugar's own neighborhood talked about her like a dog, but ended up being family members. Including the fact that she was is love with her own brother at one point and time until she found out who he was and had to break his heart. She didn't want to let him know because she didn't want to mess up her father's family. Well ain't she sweet, cuz I would have been hollaring...2df.

Brilliant!!

THIS BITTER EARTH is a beautifully written book and it is as brilliant as the song Etta James sings on her LP, Blue Gardenia. I love Bernice McFadden. She has a clever approach when telling a story. I read SUGAR and loved it and the sequel is just as profound. I am glad she told us more about JJ Taylor and brought back Lappy Clayton. She had to bring Lappy back to make the story complete. Bernice weaved a slendid web that attached everything to everyone.

"Lappy Did It!"

Amazing and wonderfully written. I was mesmerized after reading Sugar and anticipated reading the sequel This Bitter Earth. All I can say is... Bernice L. McFadden is EXTREMELY one talented writing sister.

This Bitter Earth was powerfully written. The imagery in this story as with Sugar, is beyond words. Yes indeed, Lappy did it. But, BLM wrote it and brought all of her characters to life via the minds of her readers.

5 stars just ain't enuff for this excellent read. I look forward to reading all of BLM's books. Ms.McFadden, Keep the Creativity Flowing!
