one of my favorites as a kid

This was one of my favorites when I was a kid. And I'm 27 now, so this is long before Rowling blessed the world with Harry Potter. I kind of wish I still had it around. I'll definately get one when I have my own kids. The story is simple and fascinating. Katie has magic powers and weird silver eyes. She also feels different and separate from the other kids around her. Is it possible there are other children with silver eyes? I've always felt separate and I've always wanted special powers. If you're sick of waiting for that English woman to write another Harry, pick up this one and see what us gen-x er's read when we were kids.

I read it every year for about 7 years

I have been trying to track down this book as it was my favourite book as a child. (Im now 29) I must have read it at least 7 times.

I think that a lot of kids feel alone and that they are different to other kids. And they are longing to feel that they are special in some way. Kids can relate to Katie. Who shows strength and despite her differences learns who she is and learns to accept her own uniqueness.

I recommend it to anyone, and will definitely read it again when i can find a copy.

I read this 13 years ago!! 10 stars

I read this book YEARS ago. And I must say it is one of the BEST books that i've ever read. I remember that it helped me get through a very ackward time in my life. And still does, in small ways. No spoilers here, even though i only read it once more than 12 years ago and still remember every plot twist. Just get the book. Read it. Love it. And if you don't read A wrinkle in time, then read this book again.

Gosh I feel old!

I remember reading this book years ago... I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. For me it was the kind of book where you checked it out of the library several times to read it more than once. In a word: awesome. I think it's because Katie is portrayed as a smart girl that makes it appealing to a younger female audience... I'd definitely recommend it.

The Greatest Book Ever!!!

I read this book when I was in the third grade, and loved it soo much, decided to write a book report on it, which I just found. Part of my book report read as follows:

The main character of The Girl With Silver Eyes is Katie Welker. She was born with silver eyes, just as the title of the book says. She meets a man named Mr. Cooper who she likes until he starts asking too many questions. Katie finds out that she isn't the only child in the world who has silver eyes, and goes out in search of them. But first, Katie needs to find out how to contact them. Because of her wanting to find other people in the world to be her friend, she teaches a valuble trait: Never give up.

Just need to remind you that I wrote this in third grade, but I reccomend this book to everyone, form the ages 7 and up!
