The best account
The
Laci Peterson
case gripped America unlike any missing persons case ever, and who better to hear about their reaction than Laci's mother, Sharon Roche. I enjoyed her book, to hear about her joy of having Laci as her daughter up until Christmas Eve 2002 when life as she knew it changed forever.
Here we get to know Laci through Sharon's story, with all the love that went with it. Laci and Sharon seemed to have a great relationship, and she entertains as much as informs with all the cute childhood stories. It takes a signifigantly darker turn, however, when Laci went away to college and had a boyfriend who later turned to violence himself. Was it forthcoming that Scott would naturally fill that man's shoes? We meet Scott, and know the man he was (or who they thought they knew) before he killed Laci, his descent, and eventually his conviction.
What I was most impressed with in this book was Sharon's account of the Peterson family. At first they were happy as a family, but then their facades fall apart, primarly the image of Scott's mother, Jackie. While she seemed to pride herself on being a role model, she too had a secret past in the two children that she gave up for adoption who would later seek her out as adults. She gave others the impression that no one was good enough for Scott, and that nothing Laci did was ever good enough for anybody. Once Laci had disappeared, it was clear that they were on his side and that they were going to do anything and everything to protect him. Slowly but surely they pull away, and make things much harder on Sharon and her family looking for answers. As Scott's guilt became more and more apparent, their excuses and lies sound like pathetic attempts to justify his own actions. They were uncooperative with Sharon until things errupted into a tight lipped falling out. After reading what Jackie's lies and deceptions were, I can conclude that the apple certainly didn't fall far from the tree.
Sharon also does a wonderful job of summing up the pain and grief one experiences with the loss of a loved one. And for someone to be murdered by their husband, the person who is supposed to love you more than anyone else. Terrible, but sadly so true. Divorce was an option. Scott can think about that while he's rotting behind bars.

A great tribute to Laci
A refreshing view from the person closest to the whole nightmare situation. Seems very honest, does not feel like Sharon wants to make
Laci
out to be more than she was or someone she wasn't. A story about a great daughter and a mother who adored her, and the terrible lie Laci married into.

For Laci: A Mother's Story of Love, Loss, and Justice
I fyou followed the
Laci Peterson
Story, this book is a must!!!
Through her Mother's eyes...
The moment I turned the first page, I was hooked. Six hours later after reading the entire book, I finally had a glimps of what
Laci's life
was like when she was alive. Sharon Rocha did an excellent job of sharing her joys and sorrows of being her mother. Laci was an such an exceptional human being. What a shame that she and Conner are no longer on this earth.

Laci Peterson: Her mothers story
I'm still in the process of reading it. So far it is very good and yet so sad for the family.
