Universe
The book was comprehensive and well written, but it could have been better organized.
Should be in every astronomers book collection!!!!!
Like I said in the title, this "Should be in every astronomers book collection". I saw this book a year ago at Borders bookstore and I fell in love with the glossy pages and phenomenal pictures. If you're a serious astronomer or just a newbie enthusiast, buy this book. I waited a year to buy it because now it's 40% off. It's a great learning tool for kids too. I'm keeping it for when I have children. When you look through this book, you'll be blown away!

Look Up At The Stars And Learn From Them
You are about to embark on an unforgettable journey beginning at the solar system and traveling to the farthest limits of space and time. This is a definitive photographic guide to the heavens. You will find practical information about what instruments to use when observing the sky on a clear night. You will learn about the history of astronomy and man's achievements in spaceflight. Find out how scientists through the ages have contributed to our understanding of reality by challenging previous ideas once held by religion. At the end of the book there is a special section on the night sky listing all 88 constellations as well as a monthly guide with detailed celestial maps. The text is easily understandable for the average reader to grasp. The photographers did an outstanding job capturing beautiful portraits of celestial objects. If you are a fan of astronomy or just science in general, then you MUST purchase this volume. Buy today, watch the stars, and learn from them.

A Truly Wonderful Work of Art for Science.
A longtime, passive learner of astronomy, I soaked up as much information from the magazines as possible -- until I discovered this! This book covers everything from the quarks and gluons of the subatomic level to the quasars and galaxies! I wish Amazon would allow me to give this book more stars, because it really gets an A+ in my belief. I even bought an extra copy for my teenage sister, then used her copy when I and my fiancee went back to see them in the US a few weeks ago and were out enjoying some starry nights. Now they can say they've seen the Andromeda Galaxy through binoculars! Anyway, by all means get this book; it makes everything space-related or scientific extremely interesting, it's in-depth (including all of the things I learned in Astronomy class in college), and, hopefully, it'll make more people interested in the field and asking the question "What else is out there?" Seriously, BUY THIS BOOK!! You will never regret it.

The Most Comprehensive Book on the Cosmos Out There!
I am a huge astronomy buff and own many books on astronomy, however this one truly takes the cake as one of the best and most complete. This book is highly comprehensive, it offers information on pretty much everything you would want to know about the
Universe
, including: the origins and possible endings to our universe, detailed accounts of the neighboring planets in our solar system, brief detailings on matter and time, a history of astronomy and space exploration, and a large chapter on the night sky, which offers information on the constellations and stars for the backyard astronomer. Here are the chapters for those interested:
1) What is the Universe?
2) The Beginning and End of the Universe
3) The View From Earth
4) Exploring Space
5) The Solar System
6) The Milky Way
7) Beyond the Milky Way
8) The Constellations
9) Monthly Sky Guide
The pictures and graphics are also gorgeous, and a lot of the images are some I have never seen before, truly I always feel humbled after seeing such images, knowing we are small yet somehow part of something greater. I highly recommend this book to all those interested in the workings of our wondrous universe.
