Inspiring!

A Child called "It" is an inspiring book. When I read it, I learned what a child's life was from age 4 to age 12. I liked it because I put myself in Dave's place while I read it. I understand now why most of us children have a good life.

A Courageous Boy

This is an inspiring story about a boy named Dave Plezer who suffered brutal abuse in his family. This story shows how a courageous boy lived through the torment of his mother's "games." Dave's mother is an alcholic who is filled with hate and anger. One day when she has been drinking all day long, she goes into the kitchen to scold Dave. In one hand she holds Dave's younger brother and in the other hand, a knife. She tells Dave that she is going to kill him one day. As she speaks she accidently trips and the knife lands on Dave's stomach. Dave's mother does not even have enough love for him to take him to the hospital. I strongly recommed this book because it shows what a little boy had to do to survive and it's a good lesson in survival.

A Child Called It

When reading this book I was full of emotions due to the mental and physical abuse to a child for eight years by his mother one whom should be able to find security in. Find also this book very inspiring for any one at any age more so for the young children and young adults to know that can find strength in one self while trusting may not always become easy task yet know there are channels and authority figures whom are there to help in the welfare of their life. I would highly recommend this book

A Child Called "It"

A Child Called "It", by Dave Pelzer, is a touching story about the author when he was a child. He was terrorized and abused by his alcoholic mother for many years and never lived a normal childhood life. His mother brainwashed him by telling him that he was bad and he deserved all the pain she gave him. She made him sleep on a cot in the cold garage and made him wear the same holy clothes everyday. Dave was rarely allowed to play with the other children or take showers; which made it very hard to make friends and avoid being teased. He was assigned chores everyday and his mother would not only beat him, but also did terrible things to him like making him drink ammonia. Also, she once stabbed him in the stomach almost causing him to bleed to death. She made him suffer with his wound and didn't take him to the doctor. He had to manage on his own and did anything possible to survive. He hardly ate and when he did it was crumbs and scraps, but sometimes his mother wouldn't feed him for almost 10 days straight. Finally, the teachers at Dave's school started to notice him more and realized he was different than most of the kids at school. They knew that David was being abused and took care of the problem by calling the police and arresting his mother. Soon David became a normal boy and lived a normal childhood and had the life he always wanted to live.

Will He Survive?

Courageous, Brave, Lonely, and Survivor are only some of the traits David Pelzer possesses in A Child Called "It".
This book was about a kid, David Pelzer, who experienced one of California's worst child abuse cases ever during the 1970's.The day he started getting abused, he vowed he'd defeat his mom.And not let her get satisfied with her beatings. He would take the beatings hoping his mom would get bored and stop.
His alcoholic mother was "sick" because during the day while David was at school, she'd be at home thinking of different torturous games for David, when he arrive home. She made him eat feces from his brothers diaper, made him drink ammonia, and she starved him. She also did other frightening thing to him. All of this was done in front of his cowardly dad who did nothing! How does David, escape his mothers torturous games?
I thought this book was an inspirational story about a child's struggle, courage, and will to survive. When I started reading this book I just couln't put it down. I kept wongering what would happen next. Would he survive? Would he get seriously hurt or would he die?
Overall I thought that this book was great. The way Dave Pelzer wrote the book, you can picture his pain and also feel it. If I was to rate this book from a 1 to a 10, I'd give it a 9 because I thought the book was so well written.
