Turning Stones read in Engilsh 105
My feelings on thing book are that it is a very interesting book. The things that Marc goes through would be enough for any normal person to loose faith in everything. The book does a good job of depicting an ECS in New York. As you go through the book your mind does not want to continue reading the horrible things that people do to their
children
but your heart reaches out to each child as Marc deals with them one at a time. "The truth hurts" comes to mind and "life is not fair" is an understatement when applied to the children of abusive families. After reading this book you will never look at social work the same way again.

Turning Stones
Marc Parents terrifying stories of these poor kids really grabbed my attention. I read this book in only two
days because
I could not set it down! The stories he told changed the way I felt about social workers. Before I really didn't know much about them. Now I see how important and needed they are in our society. His wonderful use of descriptive language really puts me in his place. I seem to understand how he's feeling, and how all of the characters are feeling through out the book. Maybe someday there will be enough wonderful saints like Marc Parent in the world. Hopefully, someday,
children will
no longer have to suffer.

A great book!
This book takes you on a wild journey through New York City, seeing things that people easily forget about... until they read this book. Marc is an excellent writer, taking you along with him on his cases; he makes you see what he saw and feel what he felt. He describes in great detail all the different aspects, enabling you to be right there beside him, watching these crazy parents, talking with abused kids, suffering after making mistakes. Never had I even imagined all these things take place daily in cities like New York, it opens your eyes to a whole other life. This is an excellent book that everyone should read, it will change your life forever. KK

Turning Stones
The book '
Turning
Stones
' was a very well written book. The book was very discriptive and very well stated. This book made me realize how much child abuse is a very common thing. The book was very disterbing at times, but all that needed to be said was said. I dont think anyone could have said these things better than the way Marc Parent put them. the book made me look at child services diferently. it made me realize that they were trying to do some good in the world. they are trying to save lives of innocent
childrent that
adults were just throwing away. I feel that everyone should read this book so that they can see what a child goes throw, either through there eyes or the eyes of another. I feel this book will be around to help stop child abuse until it is controled and eliminated. Thank you Marc Parent

It's An Eye Opener
This book was a very good book. I felt for all the families that were written about in this book. It will make you think twice about what some parents or even little siblings will do to their family members. He goes into a lot of detail when he is recounting his
days
as an Emergency Child Service worker. For the 4 years he worked at this excruciating task of deciding whether parents were fit enough to care for their
children
, Marc Parent keeps a little bit of humor in his writing. Everyone should read this book just to see what really goes on in the world and could even be happening next door or to their family members. MH
