Interesting story in coping with a parent's serious illness

Poor Sunny! Ann Martin does a fine job detailing a painful situation in a teen's life. Unfortunately, Sunny copes with this by escaping, running away. I can see why Dawn is mad at her. Dawn's trying to be sympathetic, but Sunny's not making it easy. Of course it is realistic, because there are some teenagers who cope with problems by running away. We can only hope that Sunny comes to her senses and realizes the friend she has in Dawn.

I thought that this book was an extremly good sequel to Sunny. I hope that everyone will read both of the books. I think that Martin has out done her self with a new book series for the young adult girls of the ninetys.

Ann M. Martin's done it again!

Well, this book is not very SUNNY. What I mean is, not a lot of happy things happen in it to her. But Dawn, oh my god, give the girl a break, her mom is dying! If you are only gonna be able to read one book or buy one book: it's this one. IT ROCKS!

Ann Martin did a really good job on this one! Sunny is a weird girl,yet cares for her mother.This is a really goood book! California Diaries make you feel like you are really there.They tell alot about friendship. If you just lost a friend,I advise you to read the diaries!

I really enjoyed it!

I loved this book! Sunny does lots of cool things when she's cutting school. I can see why she got mad at Dawn. But then I also read Dawn, diary 2, and I can see why Dawn is mad at Sunny. I love California Diaries, because I can always see their point of view. I liked Ducky, too, because I felt very sorry for him. I don't think Dawn should be mad at Sunny for not visiting her mom, because Dawn never really talks to or entertains Carol, her Step-mom. But I Do think Sunny should visit her mom more often, I feel really sorry for her mom.
