Wonderful page turner! Great Adventure Story.

I hid in the bathroom from my children to finish reading this book! It is a great adventure of a young man roaring around the planet (teleportation)and playing cat and mouse with good/bad guys.

I have never read Gould, but am purchasing all of his books today. This guy is like Alan Dean Foster at the height of his craft. It was a genuine pleasure to discover someone that is great at storytelling.

Worth Jumping Into

Steven Gould delivers a fast-paced mind-spinning book here. Jumper starts off with the main character's first jumps, and takes off from there. The never-slow pacing takes us from Ohio, to NYC, to Florida, and then around the world as the protagonist seeks revenge upon those who've hurt his family and made his life difficult. The teleportation aspects are well-thought out, and to his credit the author never explains how the teleportation happens, we just have to accept that it does.

A well-written and compelling book. Highly recommended.

A good fast read!

I enjoyed this short novel, and read it quickly, even though other responsibilities beckoned. That is what I wish for in a book. It moves quickly, and kept me turning the pages. The main premise is a stretch, but once you accept that, the story unfolds with interesting twists and turns. Davy is a believable and sympathetic person, although he tends to whine too much at times. He uses his gift in some clever and unusual ways. There are no weighty concepts or philosophies here, just a satisfying adventure tale.

I have not seen the film version, but from the reviews I have concluded that the studio abandoned the plot at an early stage, and made up a story of their own. The book does have a plot, and only a few unbelievable elements. If you want uncomplicated science fiction that will keep you interested, Steven Gould is a name to remember.
