Streep and Nicholson are great in this film

I never read the book, so my point of view is purely on the film. And I loved it long ago and still love it. There's an intesity Streep delivers that pains you to observe her character in this situation. The last 30 minutes is so good... and to add Carly Simon's Itsy Bitsy Spider rendition of Coming Around Again just did it for me. Best metaphore. Fabulous ending.

best streep

not a fan of streep or nicholson. they are not actors in this film they are really living their lives. you believe they are in a documentary. i only have one criticism - why isnt it on DVD?

Awesome movie

I really enjoyed this movie. Meryl Streep is at her best as a woman in love who struggles with her husbands infidelity. It's one I've watched over and over.

Some new reasons to watch

I saw 'Heartburn' for the first time in a long time last night on HBO. The movie itself - well, time has naturally disassociated it somewhat with the book, so my disappointment at the bleached-out film version of Ephron's tale (WASP-ified, cooking elements in very deep background) has faded away.

Now, the story stands on its own, especially thanks to Streep's strong performance & the excellent Carly Simon music (especially the "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" tie-in). The last 15 minutes or so - really great stuff. The 'key lime pie in the face' scene continues to be a perfect cinematic moment.

But here are three new reasons to watch -

- "Hey, it's Kevin Spacey!" What a surprise to see him in what had to have been one of his first screen roles.

- Eastern Airlines shots. That brings back a lot of memories for anyone who took the Shuttle on a regular basis.

- Processing Meryl Streep's credit card *on the plane* with a old card imprinter. Wow! How times have changed.

TOUCHING

Haven't seen the film in quite some time. I simply remember the ending as being one of the more touching films I've ever seen. Coupled with Carly Simon's background music, the last five minutes of heartburn alone make this film worth seeing. If you have any compassion at all, you'll understand...
