Cute...

Tacky is the cutest children's book I have read! I'm 15 and I still read it! It is very funny and gives children a good message about being yourself. All kids should read it!

Tacky, the Penguin...

I liked this book because I like penguins and how they live. This story is about a penguin named Tacky and his companions named Perfect, Neatly, Angel, Lovely, and Goodly. Tacky was opposite of his companions on everything, their marching, diving, and singing. One day they heard thumps and that meant hunters. The companions hid but Tacky stayed. Did the hunters take Tacky or did Tacky shew them away? Read the book to find out.

One of the best polkas ever written, and it's included in this great book about individuality! Tacky marches to the beat of a different drummer (or in this case, accordian-player), and that difference becomes valuble in saving his friends from stereotyping hunters.
Helen Lester has written a great and funny book with an important lesson, but Lynn Munsinger's illustrations are what makes makes it work.

Nice bird to have around...

Everytime I go off to babysit, I make sure that this book is with me! It is incredibly entertaining for both the children (young AND old) and myself. After reading it once, its almost guaranteed that you'll be reading it again and again, it never gets tiring! Kids will be rolling on the floor w/laughter after reading this! Not only is this book really fun, it teaches a really good lesson! Just because Tacky is and odd bird, it doesn't stop him from being a hero. This will teach kids that they can be proud to be themselves! I definitely, definitely reccommend this book to anyone who is around kids!
