So good I bought more than one

When you read this book, you realise that Randy Cassingham is not pushing a certain point of view to line his own pockets. This book is written out of a genuine desire to fix a legal system which is in grave need of help.

By way of many examples, it outlines the problems at all levels, from plaintiffs and society to lawyers and judges.

The book concludes with a thought provoking discussion of what individuals can do to fix things.

I bought another copy for a lawyer friend to read and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent reading!

Well written, worth the wait

Mr. Cassingham has worked hard on this book, and it shows. While the content is about complex (and, sadly, often extremely bizarre and/or just plain stupid) legal issues, he writes it in layman's terms -- he's like an interpreter of the stupid. (Sorry, Mr. Cassingham, no offense.) I bought three copies -- two for the attorneys in my life, and one just for me.

Excellent!

As written in other reviews, the stories will make you laugh, cry, and get angry. However, the book has much more value than just a list of problems with the US legal system; toward the end of the book, Randy gives suggestions as to how the reader can get involved in helping to solve the problem.

Most books of this type are merely depressing, but this book is not; Randy has not given up on the possibily of people making a difference.

Most books are either uniformly good, or they start with the best and then go downhill from there. The True Stella Awards is unusual in that it gets better as you go through the book.

Should I laugh-or should I cry?

I did plenty of both while reading this wonderful book of the bizarre. I laugh because Cassingham has a wonderful way with words. I cry when I think of our tax dollars at work in the courts and the time people waste to deal with the miscreants supplying the fodder for these all-too-true stories. But I smile again when I think of all the good Cassingham is doing in pointing out the flaws in our system and the compounding of errors when insurers settle, encouraging more of the same misbehaviors from others who decide to board the gravy train.

Those who know my work will recognize the root cause of much of the idiocy and "don't take responsibility" mindset a True Stella Award requires. Cassingham's mix of humorous style and serious message strikes just the right balance to address this growing problem. Perhaps, the insurers and courts will some day get the message.

A larger portion of "This is True"

Randy Cassingham writes a e-zine called "This is True." I suscribe to it. Reading "This is True" is a very enjoyable way to start my week. Now I have 300 pages worth of "True".

The mindlessness depicted in the stories is unbelieveable and Randy's comments at the end are always thought provoking.
