Changed my life!

This book is absolutely wonderful. Between this and Martha Stewart I now love my home and treat her with respect. Has changed my whole attitude toward housekeeping. And I bring nothing into my house that I don't adore and use. Can't say the same for the garage but I'm working on it. Also used this at my office with outstanding results! Read it - it's great!

Excellent book for the beginner to the consultant.

This is one of the best Feng Shui books based mainly on the intuitive aspect which, after all, is the basis of Feng Shui. A great book to understand "energy" and what it is all about. One can integrate one of several different schools of thought on Feng Shui after learning all this book has to offer. Another good author on the subject of intuitive Feng Shui is Denise Linn.

This is a classic.

Inspiring. Practical. Anyone can do this in their own homes. Unlike other fengshui books that are either too Chinese or on a big scale (offices, house with a garden etc), this book focuses on the basic principles so that you can apply it in cities, hotel rooms, a small studio space or even a boarding school room. The author knows very well what she is talking about and maintains a very good healthy balance of this often-times silly, out-of-touch-with-reality stuff. She gives *s e n s i b l e* advice on getting rid of clutter, why that is important, and on purifying your home, connecting with your home, how to deal with electromagnetic fields, and also about the bagua grid (fengshui) to help you place your furniture and how to enhance some oddities of your house design. She gives many examples of what worked for her clients and workshop students, which provides a nice reliability factor. Save yourself the trouble of buying several books on this subject. This book is a pleasure to read, beautifully designed on natural paper and with good typography design. She explains about Bali in detail and her views on Creating Sacred Space with Fengshui is a global standard in that her views are very well integrated to work well for both western people and eastern people. If you are interested in creating a beautiful home for yourself this is the book for you. The author has 20 years of expertise in this realm of study and the book is every bit valuable. It is the best guidance I have had in a book.

.... I agree that Kingston's book may not be for everyone; I certainly haven't done much of the "Space Clearing" yet, which includes ringing bells in corners, or clapping at the corners or leaving flower petals for the gods. I do however feel that the part in her book about "Clearing clutter" and a very well sorted out part on "Bagua Grid" are very excellent reads for the beginner (or inter-mediate level) reader of fengshui. What I do is leave the part that doesn't make sense to me, and just try stuff that I'm convinced about. I must add also, that her other book "Clearing clutter" uses a lot of the text from this book. There will be no reason to buy both books. Her message is the same. I agree; the culture of Bali is a bit off from our norm of life, and it is a bit difficult to buy the Balinese Bells. Bottom line, Kingston's idea of using energy flow to unite aspects of a whole variety of subjects in fengshui is definitely a plausible one. And clearing and purifying the space with intentions of love which I tried in my own room worked like magic. I have no doubt what she suggests comes from the truth. =o)

Changed the habits of a lifetime

I read and absorbed this book over the course of a month. the space clearing ritual really intrigued me and I planned to do it, but even before I did so, garbage bags of stuff started flying out of the house. I had clothes that went back 10 years. I took a deduction for some of it, but the rest I donated freely and it felt great! On New Years Day, I did the space clearing ritual, just for my living room, even though I'm not finished clearing the clutter (nothing's perfect). I started clapping around the room and was surprised at how easy it was to detect the "dead" or "stuck" parts of my living room. This part which includes a closet with lots of old journals, literally cried out to be emptied, and I did so immediately after the ritual, with no regrets and much relief, easily ditching stuff that went back 20 years! The power that is generated by the sound and the energy generated in my arms was incredible. I used a chime for bells and was able to hear the difference in tones throughout the room. Someone looking only for traditional Feng Shui may be disappointed, however much of this is so similar in effect, and although a different cultural base, is intuitive like Black Tantric Sect Feng Shui and is very complementary to Feng Shui (I'm doing both). I'm glad this book found me when I was ready for it, and definitely recommend this book.

a simple and exquisite taste of Feng-Shui

About what did I get from the book, I could tell you: I cleared my ideas as
what feng shui was about. The book is a work that explain the positioning of
the furniture, windows, mirrors, buildings, cities, etc...,regarding the
energy of the object and the energy of the place.I like this book because
the author explains in simple ways some ideas or misconceptions that I have
about the energy that surrounds us. She has valuable credentials and much
experience in this matter. ...BR>About the energy clearing, she explains that energy clutters like dust,
although you don`t see it( there is not such thing as bad or good energy).
She explains the techniques to clear that energy from houses, objects etc...
and also how to shield and maintain places clear. She begans taking about
clutter in your closets and different places in your house. When I began
reading the book I became so conscious about all the things I have collected
and really don`t used. So I clean my closets and began making space for
other things. As you clean outside, your mind is relieved of burden. The
process was very interesting.
What I learn in the book I continue practicing today, there is no way
back. She explains the use of water, sound, fire and flowers in the different techniques. The author doesn`t mess with a lot of philosophical explanations, she just get to the point.I recomend this book to everyone who want a taste of Feng-Shui.
