-- .... I agree that Kingston's book may not be for everyone; I certainly haven't done much of the "Space Clearing" yet, which includes ringing bells in corners, or clapping at the corners or leaving flower petals for the gods. I do however feel that the part in her book about "Clearing clutter" and a very well sorted out part on "Bagua Grid" are very excellent reads for the beginner (or inter-mediate level) reader of fengshui. What I do is leave the part that doesn't make sense to me, and just try stuff that I'm convinced about. I must add also, that her other book "Clearing clutter" uses a lot of the text from this book. There will be no reason to buy both books. Her message is the same. I agree; the culture of Bali is a bit off from our norm of life, and it is a bit difficult to buy the Balinese Bells. Bottom line, Kingston's idea of using energy flow to unite aspects of a whole variety of subjects in fengshui is definitely a plausible one. And clearing and purifying the space with intentions of love which I tried in my own room worked like magic. I have no doubt what she suggests comes from the truth. =o)
