Page turner.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it highly to readers of all ages, both genders. Educational, entertaining, moving and genuine.

Documentary / love story / personal growth journal

Amazing book. I thought the subject would be interesting, but I had not expected to learn so much along the way, to find cause to examine my own personal priorities and to come to view the justice system in a whole new light.

This book is a timeless gem. Very good writing, previously untold facts about many well known US cases and an abundance of spiritual revelations all lie between it's unassuming covers. I will pass it on as a gift to friends. I highly recommend this read. Great use of your time.

A Triple Crown for Portraits of Guilt.

Informative, touching and powerful. This book wins in all catagories. The writing is excellent and readable, the character highly respectable and relatable, the stories inspiring, true and deeply moving. I loved this book and give it the highest ranking available.

Required reading in Principle and Ethics class.

I have just been forwarded this book by a fellow professor who recommended it be considered for a Principles and Ethics course I teach at 4th year university level. Upon skimming the title, I was unable to understand his reasoning. But over the weekend, I read Portraits of Guilt. I don't normally offer reviews of book on the Internet, however want to make an exception. This author exemplifies the best in human behavior and in doing so, suffers the consequences. I want my students to see that having high standards and ethics as well as living by one's principles is not without conseqence, but the reward is dignity and self respect as this story illustrates. I highly recommend this book as a general read, as well as to those wanting to appreciate a needed lesson in life about the capacity for good we all have within us.

Lucky, I guess

While in a doctor's office, I saw an excerpt from the book, "Portraits of Guilt", and began to read. It grabbed me by the throat. I am not a great reader. It was even more odd for me to purchase a book from an excerpt. Was I glad I did.
The book is very personal. Almost like reading someone's journal. Ms. Boylan is to be admired for stickingby her guns and her principles. Her trials became my trials. I felt what she was feeling. During my reading, there were, at times, when I stopped reading and openly sobbed. I am glad there are people like her in the world.
However, this writing could be in vain if the next publication she comes out with is not a textbook showing others how to do what she has done.
