Could confuse kids

A great story about animal sounds. Most of the sounds are accurate, however I have a problem with the 3 singing pigs...would they really sing "La, La, La"? Would a child recognize Boynton's use of rhyme and really "get it"? I think not...I'm having a hard time now, when I took my son to the farm and he was saying "La La La" at the pigs...while all the other kids were saying "oink" or were more accurately making a snorting sound. Their parents looked at my son as if he was not as smart as their genius kids who knew the proper pig sounds.

fun rhyming

All in all a fun little rhyming book about animal sounds but has one doozy of a tongue twister. I get in a good rhythm and all of a sudden comes, "rhinoceroses snort and snuff and little dogs say ruff ruff ruff". It's a mouthful, but the illustrations are cute and fun and it's a good story. Enjoy reading it to your little ones, they will love it.

The test of time

My daughter is now seventeen. This is one of a dozen or so of her old books that we can still recite. And when one of us does it's always good for a grin, even without the pictures. I loved all of Boynton's books, shirts, calendars, potholders (ok, so she and I've both been around a while) and kitchen towels.

Fun for years...

My kids, now in their twenties, loved this book when they were little. Even now, once in a while, someone in our family will quote Moo Baa La La La. Read this book, have some fun, and make some memories.

This is such a fun book for both reader and baby. I've shared this book with several other parents and everyone agrees that this book is a great way to read, play and learn. It teaches different animal sounds in a fun rhyme and sillyness. I'm sure this will be a favorite for quite some time.
