Thomas Perry has done it again!

I enjoyed this book tremedously. The heroine Jane Whitefield is convincingly and sympathetically drawn - the development of her self-doubts and vulnerabilities is particularly well done. Yet I get the impression that Perry is preparing to "close the book" on Jane Whitefield. Consider that she has effectively been "outed" to the FBI, and by reasonable assumption, to the local police. Can she continue to do what she does best? I doubt it, and I think that Perry thinks so too. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Great read - another great adventure for Jane Whitefield

Once I started The Face-Changers I could not put it down. Jane Whitefield again has to use all her wits and intuition to help a friend and mentor of her husband,Carey. She shows compassion and yet is strong in using all her wits to help Dr. Richard Dahlman from being tried for a crime that he says he did not commit. Jane believes him and tries to understand how he came to be in this situation. There is action, supense - this book has it all. A great read but be prepared to sit to the end. It is that good.

As good as it gets

Jane Whitefield, a Seneca Indian, has spent the last ten years as a guardian, an occupation that helps people in life threatening danger, obtain new identities. It is a dangerous job because she would accompany her clients when they were on the run. She finally quit out of respect for her new spouse, Dr. Carey Mckinnon, who pleaded with her to stop her dangerous avocation.

Following a year of serene, domestic bliss, Carey asks Jane to assist a patient of his, falsely accused of murder, with vanishing. The mark is a dedicated medical research genius that Carey believes humanity needs kept alive. Jane joyfully reclaims her old life, but has a different problem to contend with than in the past. Someone is masquerading as her and that person wants to insure that Jane is permanently removed from the playing field.

Jane Whitefield is an amazing heroine because she is an everyday person doing extraordinary things. THE FACE-CHANGERS is one of the best Whitefield books to come out in this stupendous, unique series, primarily because of the heroine's needs to settle down, yet do whatever for someone she loves. Thomas Perry is a very talented author, who has written an outstanding story.

Excellent!

Each Jane Whitefield novel has been better than the last, and this is no exception. I enjoyed how Cary could see the need for and benefit from Jane's acting as a guide. (It was hard for me to visualize Jane as "just" a doctor's wife after the last book.) What a great character!

A complex, well-written story

Thomas Perry has developed a fascinating heroine in Jane Whitefield. I may not believe it possible for a REAL Jane to exist, but I truly do love to read about this fictional one, and I have followed her development in each of Perry's books with greater and greater interest. Her Indian heritage has added depth to her character. Above all, Perry crafts a novel with inventiveness and a beautiful use of language. I may not believe in Jane, but I love her all the same. Readers who enjoy finely written tales should love Perry's fey heroine.
