Joe H. Miller Place NY the sickest book ever made by man

The author is Chuck Pfarrer. He is a former Navy SEAL. In this book it tells you about all the extremely tough training he had to go through to be in the most elite mititary unit in the U.S. Chuck goes on missions all over the world including Beirut.
The book reflects on his childhood with his dad being a navy battleship captain and himself being shiped to one of the hardest military schools in the country.
Chuck goes through months of BUDS training and other specialized OPS training just to get to a desk job at a camp. Then he gets the call, his first mission in South America.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good book about the Navy and war operations.

A surprisingly good book

I picked up Warrior Soul while waiting for William Gibson to show up for a reading at Barnes & Noble and was so struck by it that I went back and bought it. Pfarrer is a better writer than most ex-military men, and his descriptions of the men he encountered and training he endured to become a SEAL stuck in my head. After getting the book home I devoured it in two days, and promptly read it again.

Pfarrer's excellent writing aside, I was struck by his tone: he neither romanticizes his military experience nor disdains it. He is as honest about it as one can be when writing about missions which were, at one point, classified. Instead of the gung ho, Rambo figures were are usually presented with when dealing with special forces soldiers, he shows us a group of highly dedicated, highly trained men who are willing to do some of the most dangerous jobs in the world. What comes though is their humanity and, for me, the most interesting thing about the book was the way in which the SEALs dealt with the unimaginable stresses under which they operate. The secrecy and tight bonding required for their job becomes, in many ways, their own worst enemy, as they are forced to live in a world apart from the rest of the military and far, far removed from any civilian life. No coming home and blowing off some steam with your wife or friends, if you have been able to hang onto them.

Pfarrer reached the pinnacle of then-current U.S. Special Forces (SEAL Team 6) and left the Navy, worn down, I think, by the intense emotional pressure of the job. I was left with a sense of awe at what these men are capable of, and compassion for the wounds they received, both physical and emotional.

Great writing without the macho crap!

Are you looking for a good, first-hand account from a Navy Seal, well written and without false bravado? This is it. Pfarrer concentrates on the other amazing men with whom he has worked, fought and survived. When he does focus on himself, it is as often about his own faults, fears and failures as it is his successes and triumphs. And have no doubt - Pfarrer was not a "borderline" contributer, as he served on the infamous counter-terrorism Seal Team Six, the best of the best. For a more detailed account of BUD/S training, read Dick Couch's "Warrior Elite: The Forging of Seal Class 228". For an honest, surprisingly well-written account of one man's career as a Navy Seal, you cannot go wrong with Pfarrer's "Warrior Soul". The first chapter will grab you for sure!

WOW What a ride!

Chuck Pfarrer's Warrior Soul is an incredible read. An extremely well written narrative of his life focusing on his career as a Navy SEAL. Read the first chapter and you won't want to put it down. A brilliant and compelling introspective look at what it was like to be an operator. A true Hero. Thank you for your service to our country.

Great Job

Chuck's well writen book does something that most Team books don't. It's Loud and Clear what sets Team guys apart: What they do when all else fails.
