Whether you are an aspiring voice over artist or just an average reader, VO will tickle your fancy and make you grin while providing you with a plethora of insight into this relatively unknown world. Harlan knows his game and has earned the right to lightly mock his profession while praising it and providing golden bits of advice throughout. The book is divided into alternating chapters of great information combined with chapters of fascinating anectdotes from the voiceover world.
It's a well-written and entertaining book that I will keep on my shelf for many years to come to use for encouragement and reference. Harlan also includes numerous resources for further help in voiceover.

This is a must-have for any VO artist. Buy it and use it to your advantage. Thanks Harlan! I look forward to more books in the future!

Harlan Hogan is as funny as he is talented. This book is a must have for anyone in the VO business or considering a career in VO. This book gives insight into the business of voice acting by someone who has been in the trenches and worked hard so that now he can spend most of his time soaking in a hot tub. Seriously, this book is full of infornation from what it takes from a talent standpoint to advice on record keeping and setting up a home studio. There are also lots of great stories about some the best voices in the industry. Mix that with Harlans sense of humor and you have a winner!

Harlan Hogan says it all here! His honest, upfront approach woven into a unique story about his life as a voice actor is a must have for anyone interested in the voice acting buisiness. He gives you direction, resources, knowledge, humor, and focus. This book is priceless, and my bible. Thanks Harlan

Whether you are an actor who wants to find out how the voice over part of the business works (and more importantly, how you can get some of that work), or whether you are merely curious as to what life is like in this very different and quirky occupation, Harlan Hogan's new book will offer much both to inform and to delight. It is deliciously written in a style that is accesible and easy to read. The chapters alternate between being concretely educational (What is studio work like? What does the jargon mean? What do agents do? How do you promote your career?) and in sharing autobiographical tales of how the author got into this business (including some war stories about those times when things didn't quite work as planned.) For me, this book took away a lot of the fear and misconceptions about the voice over business that had been keeping me, as an actor, from being able to truly check it out. It is as if a wise and generous veteran was reaching down to give me a helping hand up onto the train. Thanks Harlan.

Great advice and worth every penny !

I bought this book to gain some insight into the voice acting industry. What I got was great information, realistic insights, and a great story of one man's journey to the top of his craft.
The book works as an autobiography and as a reference tool. Suggestion and tips sections are separated by page color which allow the reader quick access to valuable information and training tips. Viewed as an autobiography, the continuity of the book flows with all of the sections blending smoothly from beginning to end. I predict that once you own this book, it will not remain on your shelf gathering dust. Rather, it will travel with you to your own auditions offering friendly advice when you need it most. I know that I'll be carrying my copy on my journey!
