A pleasant surprise. . .
This
book
was passed onto me in a box that a friend didn't feel like packing. I'm always skeptical of national book
club choices
, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
Obviously, you can read above for the book summary. That being said, I felt I was able to get to know all the members of the Morrison family through Lawson's writing, even if the story was narrated entirely by Kate. The story jumps back and forth between the past and the present, but isn't difficult to follow.
My only complaint is that the story ended before I ever learned if Matt and Kate truly reconnected. It seems the author was on her way to resolving this issue, and then the book simply ended, an issue I've encountered in much of my reading lately.

Crow Lake
Poetic and Eloquent, will pull at your heart strings. I grew up in the country and had so much in common with the main characters in this
book
. The author's descriptions took me right back to that country life, things that I had forgotton.

Loved it...no qualifications
This is a wonderful story. The plot really grabbed me and made me want to know how things would turn out in the end, and the characters were very real, but also likeable. I felt like I got to know them. The story contains some real tragedies and some amazing sacrifices, but it's not sentimental at all. It's a satisfying read not only because of the good plot, but also because the main character learns something about herself--I guess you could say has a change of heart--and does so in a way that seems very real and believable. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

It was a quick read
This
book
was recommended to me. It isn't the type I normaly read but I liked this book. It was a quick read.
Once I entered the world of Morrisons and Pyes, I didn't want to leave and I feel as if Kate's blindness and resentment broke my heart along with Matt's. I almost feel as if Lawson wrote it specifically to be cheerless because I can't imagine a situation so sad.
