My Review of The Prophet of Yonwood

Grover waited and watched-then something odd happened. A light seemed to be growing behind the curtained and shuttered windows on the ground floor. It was a bluish light, like moonlight. What was it? Did Hoyt have twenty televisions that went on all at once? Whatever it was, it gave Grover an eerie feeling.
The story is basically about a girl named Nickie who came to Yonwood to sell her great grandfathers house (actually it's her aunt Crystal that wants to sell the house but Nickie wants to keep it.) When she gets there she hears of a "prophet" that saw the end of the world. So she sets herself three goals: keep Greenhaven (her great grandfather's house), fall in love, and do something to help the world. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books full of mystery, twists and turns, and constant suspense. In my opinion The Prophet of Yonwood is a great book.
I liked the book because it was always filled with suspense especially since it took place in a time of "on-the-verge-of" war. For example, the President of the United States as issued that they, being the U.S., and the Phalanx Nations will go to war if the Phalanx Nations refuse to agree to the demands of the U.S. Not only that but "the Prophet of Yonwood", Althea Towers, had a vision of Earth in the future which was in complete ruins.
Another reason I liked The Prophet of Yonwood is because it was filled with plentiful mystery. Some examples are on pages 31-38 a "terrorist" came through Yonwood and left a message but no one can understand it. Another example of mystery is Mr. Hoyt McCoy who is constantly yelling at "spies" and trespassers and he "cracked the sky."
The final reason I liked the book is because of its twists and turns. Although I have several examples of its twists and turns I will only share two. The first example of twists and turns is when Mrs. Beeson thinks that Althea Towers is getting orders from God it's actually what the prophet keeps seeing in her vision. Also when the entire village thinks that the prophet saw the near future she actually saw the future 50 years from their present time.
That is why I, in my opinion, The Prophet of Yonwood is a great book and anyone who likes mystery, suspense, and twists and turns should read this book.

Great Ending

It was a very good prequel to the other two books. If you read the other two books, it would be confusing till the end. I believe this book was very good.

I loved it!

The Prophet of Yonwood is about a girl named Nickie who moves to the city of Yonwood because she has inherited a house there and her aunt wants to sell it. In the city of Yonwood, someone named Althea Towers has a vision of the end of the world and everyone in the city believes it and she becomes the Prophet of Yonwood. Everyone except for strange old Hoyt McCoy, who doesn't agree with the Prophet's rules, such as: No lights, no singing, no dogs, etc... On her adventures, Nickie meets a boy named Grover, who keeps snakes in his backyard. Together, they have lots of adventures. I loved this book, and if you read it, you will too!

The City of Ember - A great read!

The City of Ember is an sci-fi epic written by Jeanne Duprau. She is one of today's best well known authors. This epic begins in a city of darkness called Ember. The city if entirely consumed by darkness. There are very few lights in the city and those are the ones powered by the generator. The city itself is dying due to the lack of food and electricity. The only hope this disaster has is a young girl called Lina and a boy called Doon.
Get ready as these two take you on a journey you'll never forget. This novel is a great work of art in my opinion. It's highly detailed, drawn out, and well written. This novel is the first part to a three book series. I would suggest buying People of Sparks as well, because The City of Ember leaves you at an dead end.
I enjoyed reading the book very much because there's never a dull moment. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys about adventure, suspense, and mystery. This novel has one of the biggest twists in the ending, which makes the novel worth the read!
