Couldn't Eat, Couldn't Sleep, Not Until I Finished this Book

Eve Duncan and Sarah Patrick are back in this fast paced thriller from Iris Johansen, only this time Eve takes the supporting role and Sarah the lead. Monty, Sarah's tracker dog, is back as well, and with a wolf for a love interest, what a wonderful sideline that is.

John Logan, Eve's ex-lover, kind of forces Sarah to use Monty to help him rescue his friend who had been kidnapped in South America. Why Monty was the only tracker dog on the planet that could do this, I never quite understood, but be that as it may, Logan's a billionaire and gets what he wants.

The super bad guy, Martin Rudzak, is used to getting what he wants as well, and what he wants is revenge and not only against Logan. He wants Sarah and Monty to pay too.

Even though I had some problems with this book, I have to say that I couldn't put it down. I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn't read ahead either, because that would be cheating. When you get a book like that, you've just got to give it five stars.

The Search

Praise. If you are looking for a cozy this is not it. Full of suspense, twists and turns,. Johansen pulled me into the story, and I couldn't read fast enough to see how things went. I felt like I not only personally knew everyone in the book; I wanted to know more about them and their facinating career choices . I highly recommend this book ,Johansen has another fan.

Thrilling with a touch of romance

I'm a new reader of Iris Johansen novels, and now I'm becoming a fan. Usually I can't find an author who has two books that thrill me to the point where I read the book in one day, but her writing style has definitely captivated me. She has just the perfect amount of suspense, thrill, and romance to keep you turning the pages. The first novel I read, The Face of Deception, was extremely thrilling that it made my heart race, but I loved this one even more. I love the type of strong-willed female characters she chooses, and that John Logan!

A Good Way to Wile Away a Rainy Afternoon

Threatened with the loss of Monty, her search and rescue dog, Sarah Patrick (introduced to us in Johansen's "The Killing Game") agrees to help John Logan (back from Johansen's last two books) find his friend who was kidnapped from his research facility in Colombia. Sarah and Monty successfully complete the mission, but Logan's lethal enemy wants revenge and he has Sarah and Monty in his sights.

I loved the fact that Johansen decided to give Sarah and Monty a book of their own. However I didn't much like Logan in the last to novels and I can't say I much like him in this one either. I understand Johansen has her roots in romance, but I wish Sarah would have given Mr. Billionaire a pass.

Anyway, I loved the book four stars worth. It's a good escapist read. As my friend Vesta Irene would say, reading this book is a good way to wile away a rainy afternoon or any other afternoon for that mater.
