I love the whole Pendragon series!
I recommend it highly, very much in the category of fantasy. If you don't like fantasy... read it anyways!
D.J. MacHale is eloquent and comical, including the teenage humor and sarcasm of the main character, while still retaining the maturity of a person who has grown up fast in a short amount of time, as Bobby has.
Very inventive, it draws you right into the world of Bobby
Pendragon
and his travels in the flumes.
This seventh installment of the Pendragon series begins with Bobby arriving at the flume on
Quillan--A territory
from which, through the flume, Saint Dane sent Bobby an invitation to come and "play"--and upon searching for his traveler clothes among the bizarre surroundings, encounters the 'quigs' of Quillan.
He escapes by a hair's breath of course. Quickly, he exits the flume's building and discovers VERY quickly, that his clothes that he changed into in the flume have given him an unknown(to him)status in the territory. He is now a 'Challenger'.
After being confronted with strange unfeeling creatures, 'dados', he is now completely confused and is running through the streets of Rune. When he is finally caught, he discovers WHAT makes him so special because of wearing the 'Challenger' clothes.
And he meets Veego and LaBerge. The
games
are underway. With everybody betting on the two 'Challengers'... with their lives.
Action-packed. More so then any other book in the series. You also find out more about the Travelers. Do they really exist? Don't miss the answer.

And so we go...
D.J. MacHale has done it again. His latest installment of
Pendragon
is fast-paced, action packed, and his cliff hanger ending is guaranteed to leave fans begging for more.
The seventh book picks up where the sixth book left off. Bobby travels to
Quillan
, a territory where people are forced to become Challengers, players of a series of diabolical and dangerous
games
. If they win, they'll be treated like royalty; if they lose, it's not so pretty.
The rest of the citizens of Quillan don't play the games, but most people bet on them to put food on the table. If they bet on the wrong Challenger, it can be as bad as losing the games.
While Bobby is dealing with the insanity on Quillan, Mark and Courtney are trying to put their lives back together on Second Earth. Courtney is still recovering from her "accident" at the end of the sixth book, and Mark is spending a lot of time with Andy Mitchell, his ex-worst enemy. I don't want to say much more about the plot, other than, Saint Dane promises Bobby to reveal the "true nature" of the Travelers if he does......something for him.
Like all the Pendragon books, the story is action-packed and very exciting. However, the book never becomes formulaic because of some unusual plot twists, and interesting, if slightly creepy, character development. The series has gotten much darker since the first book, but still has its funny moments.
My only peeve is two scenes where Saint Dane corners Bobby and gives him the overused "You think you can stop me? I am going to crush you, you insignificant little boy. Bwahaha!" speech, while Bobby just sits there. Okay, so maybe it's pointless to try to kill Saint Dane because he'll just come back to life anyway, but Bobby could have done SOMETHING.
Still, it's a good book. If you've read the first six books, run out and get the seventh one as fast as you can. You won't be disappointed. If you're a newcomer to the series, don't get turned off by the first book; it is the weakest in the series.

He's backkkk
D.J. McHale releases Bobby
Pendragon's latest
adventures in the territory of
Quillan
...where an evil company rules the world and people die for the sake of entertainment. Always fast-forwarding and exciting, we all know what to expect of this author from his previous books. What I'm amazed about is how McHale poures out his love for writing in this book. I mean, his style of writing makes me feel like a little kid again, hitching readers along for this wild adventure.
But,i have to point out some bad factors of this book too. All of McHale's books have basically the same storyline with Saint Daine, the monstrous Travelor determined on destroying Bobby, appearing and attempting to destroy a Territory. Each and every time Bobby manages to foil him. Tip for the writer.. it's getting a little boring. The only inspiration I have to keep reading this series is the desire to find out how Bobby manages to survive this time.
When you look at this book, it's like 200 pages long. Start reading and when you get to the middle, you'll feel like skipping to the end. I mean, all this unnesscary details makes the writing weak, which is common for all authors of long series. I don't know how McHale is going to keep up the suspense for another maybe 3 books.
So my tip is to wait till this book comes out in paper back and then buy it when you're sure you like the first book. Trust me, you'll get hooked!
