Loved it!!!

In my progression to modern womanhood and in an attempt to rebel against any and all literature with substance I have spent the last few years reading only chick lit.

With that said, this was NOT chick lit and I loved it!!! COuldn't put it down. I was so gripped by the story and pulled in I felt like I was there which is key for me.

I am a new fan!

Good, not great

This is my second Picoult novel. It certainly won't be my last. My Sister's Keeper was so good, that I just had to read another. This was less satisfying. Her characters didn't have the depth, overall, of the characters in Keeper, although the character of Ruthann was really terrific.

I liked the detail that Picoult gives us to allow us to be in the scene and to understand what is going on. I like the literary device of writing from several distinct points of view. I do, however, think she got a little carried away in some places. For example, I have NO idea what purpose was served by all the wandering off into prison life that she did. I tried hard to be patient with it, assuming that at some point its value would be revealed. It wasn't. I actually think she was having so much fun writing about this, that she included it just because she could. While Picoult is excellent at teaching us about the world of her characters (Greta and how search-dogs do their thing,) this part was simply distracting.

While Delia struck me as a bit self-absorbed and selfish and Eric and Fitz seemed like romance-novel guys, that didn't bother me so much because Picoult wrote them well. Andrew's character (Delia's father) was less believable, partly I think because his behaviour in prison was inconsistent with the man she drew him to be before his arrest.

All in all, this is a good book.

a very good read

As with all Jodi Picoult's novels, this story involves the reader right from the first chapter. Sure to be enjoyed whether this is your first Jodi Picoult novel or just the most recent one you've read.

I love Jodi more each time I read a novel by her...

Vanishing Acts is another hit for Jodi Picoult. The characters are multi-dimensional, the scenes (especially in prison) are vivid and emotional...it's just another wonderful book by her.

Amazing book

This was an excellant book. As an avid reader of anything Jodi Picoult, I seem to enjoy one more than the last! I didn't think that was possible! Loved it.
