Every coach needs a copy of this inspiring story!!!

I really enjoyed this tremendous story. It is so inspiring and uplifting, not just about basketball, but about life itself. It shows how dedicated you have to be in order to achieve something special. In the game of life, nothing is given to us for free and that is definitely shown through this story. I believe Pat Summitt has been blessed with the God-given ability to coach and that shows by the respect that her team has for her. A coach myself, it is so nice to have great advice through Pat Summitt and Raise the Roof. May God Bless you and your team always.

A great book that tells the story of 97-98 lady vols team

This is a great book. Pat tells a very detailed but interesting story of the '97-'98 Lady Vols undefeated season. It's a great book and I suggest all lady vol fans read it.

It was just like being there, courtside.

I loved this book!! I lived in Knoxville for many years and am a big fan of the Lady Vols. Reading this book made me feel like I was right there in the middle of the action. I could feel the intensity of the games, the frustration of the players and coaches and I could feel my heart race as she described the games. I had been to many of the games she talked about but now I was able to see them in a whole new light.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Coach Summitt while I worked at the Univerity of Tennessee. You can see her intensity in her eyes and she was able to shift that intensity to the page. You also get to see a more compasionate side of Coach Summitt as well. This team became more than a group of young women playing basketball, they became family to her.

If you are not a fan of women's basketball, you will be after reading this book.

If you love the Lady Vols, you have to have this book!

I was amazed at the diverse backgrounds of not only the coaching staff but the players. Most of the players are profiled as Pat Summitt reviews the Lady Vols perfect season. Knowing what these young ladys have been through in their lives makes you realize how sports can help girls make it through rough childhoods.

You'll feel like you were there...

An undefeated season, a national championship, an astoundingly talented freshman class combined with the experience and ability of the veterans -- Tennessee's '98 season is one to remember. In this book, Summitt tells us what is was like to live the season. I saw the Lady Vols play in the NCAA Tournament at Vanderbilt University, as an Illinois fan. I thought that if I heard "Rocky Top" one more time I would scream. By the end of the game, I was singing along. The "Meeks," Kellie Jolly, Ace Clement, Geter -- they bring such excitement to the women's basketball game --- it's contagious! I am a high school girl's coach and have encouraged my team to read this book, and "Reach for The Summitt". Whether you are already a fan of collegiate women's basketball, or are simply looking for a motivational and inspiring book, you will be a fan after reading this book. Women's basketball has needed the Tennessee Lady Vols to elevate the game and bring it the attention it deserves. Of course, I'm still an Illini at heart.
