Prepare to be inspired!

I like to think of myself as an advocate for the homeless, but this book humbled me. I have never in my life read anything that inspired and touched me more deeply. The honesty with which this amazing story is told is certain to touch your heart.

Same Kind of Different as Me is an absolutely wonderful book

I have just finished reading "Same Kind of Different as Me" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore, and it is, literally, one of the finest books that I've read in several years. I generally read a lot of fiction, but this book is so much more compelling and inspiring than any work of fiction in a long time. It almost drove me to tears.
My mother gave this book to me for Christmas (2007) recently, and said that she had been very moved by it. And, believe me, I can see why! This story of two men, one white art dealer, and another, a home-less black man from the Louisaina slavery plantations, who are brought together
through an inner-city shelter for the homeless in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Hall's wife, Debbie, also played a huge part in bringing the two men together because of her faith and diligence in improving conditions for the homeless.
The two men's trials and experiences together shed new light on the different sides of life that the other had not known before. Especially Mr. Hall, who experiences signs from God that he had never taken very seriuosly before.
It is a truly moving, touching and awe-inspiring book that everyone needs to read.

A must read!

This is a must read and I am not one who is prone to sit down and read a book very often. I couldn't put it down once I started and came away with a refreshed outlook on life. My focus and purpose in life have been challenged to new depths.

A Book to Change Your Life

I saw and heard Ron and Denver speak at a local megachurch. I had never heard of them before but found myself truly touched by the basic background of their story. Of course the book was sold there after the service. A friend bought it so I thought I might read it after she was finished with it. Two days later we had quite a snowstorm and my neighbor was clearing my driveway (He is a treasure who often helps out without being asked.)He was excited to tell me that he had a book that he thought my husband and I would really enjoy reading. Guess what book it was...
of course.....The Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. I read the book in a day and a half and it truly touched my soul.
I always had compassion for the homeless but found myself truly reaching out and helping in ways that I had never done before. This book truly changed my life in a most positive way. No more "Catch and Release" for me! I loved the humor in the book too. If you ever have an opportunity to hear these gentlemen speak run don't walk to get a good seat!

inspirational

This is an inspirational book that has, apparently, sparked a demand for the writers to speak to groups about their real-life experience of responding to God's plan for their lives. The book is simply-written and an easy read but there is depth in its message for all of us who are open to hearing it. I did not expect to enjoy the book. The surprise for me is that I both enjoyed it and am now recommending it to others.
