Gee! Is there a way for me to make money from this???

Amber might have been totally innocent in this whole case, but she sure found a way to make money out of the situation. The only reason I bought this, is because I needed a book to read on my flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne. She tells her story well, but you should only borrow this from a friend or the library instead of contributing to the "Pity Me Amber" fund. This is a bit of a sob story for sure.

Scott's A Monster!

Amber Frey had a degree in child development, had worked seven years at a pre-school, and then moved on to become a massage therapist. She met Scott Peterson on a blind date arranged by her friend. He impressed her as very mannerly and kind, and with his "globetrotter" and "assets all over" lies.

Shortly thereafter (12/6) her friend found out that Scott had been married in Modesto, and upon confronting him with it, he broke down into tears - telling her that his wife had died and this was going to be the first holidays without her.

On 12/8, Scott's on the Internet looking up information on San Francisco Bay currents, and in the classifieds looking for a boat. On 12/9 he tells Amber about having "lost" his wife; also tells her, on this and two other occasions that he doesn't want children.

Christmas Eve Scott calls Amber, telling her he was in Maine - actually was at the Berkeley Marina launching his boat. He called again Christmas day, while police were at the house looking for the just-disappeared Laci.

Amber develops an uneasiness about Scott, and asks a policeman friend to check up on him. He breaks the news about Laci to her, and advises calling the Modesto P.D. To her everlasting credit, she immediately does so, and tells them everything she knows.

Amber agrees to tape phone conversations with Scott - when he first calls, Scott claims to be in Paris, and then Brussels. Finally, on 1/6 Scott admits he was not in Paris, but simply in Modesto - looking for his wife.

On January 15 Modesto police told Laci's parents that there was another woman, and that Scott had taken out a $250,000 life insurance policy on Laci. Reporters then learned of Amber and began hounding her - with police assistance Amber held a press conference, after which Laci's friends and mother thanked her for going to the police.

"Witness" ends with a bried accounting of Amber's testimony at the trial ("felt at times like she was on trial"), Gloria Alred's willingness to represent her "pro bono," and the verdict.

Though not obviously intended, the book makes Peterson look even worse than the media - having come up with a story about "losing his wife" before her disappearance, and then repeatedly stating that he "didn't want any children" prior to unborn Connor's death. I cannot comprehend such an evil mind.
