Jennifer Weiner is my favorite author

As much as I loved Good in Bed and In Her Shoes, I think this has to be my favorite Jennifer Weiner book. I bought this at a perfect time in my life. I had just given birth to my 1st child, and this book was so relatible. It's humorous, and witty, and so much more. I just started to read it again. I would love it if a movie came out based on this book. I wish Jennifer Weiner much success and look forward to all her future books, and can't wait to see what she'll write next. Thanks Jen!

What friends are for

This book is honestly a little frightening if you're like me and don't have any children yet. The book is about 4 women, three of which are about the have their first child and meet in a prenatal yoga class. After one of the mothers goes into labor that day, the three women become best friends. Each woman had a significant career before becoming pregnant and has to make a choice as the baby comes. Becky, a chef at a restaurant she co-owns with her best friend, decides to go back part time. She spends the remainder of her days fighting with her mother in law and caring for Ava, her daughter. Kelly, a young, peppy mother feel she has to go back to work due to her husband being laid off right before their son was born. Her life becomes a blur of work, mothering and taking care of her slouchy husband who suddenly has no desire to look for a new job. Then there's Ayinde, married to a very high profile basketball player who soon after her son is born, she finds out had a one-night stand and got another woman pregnant. Each woman has a lot to endure, but none like Lia. Lia had been watching the three women from afar and envying their lives. Her own baby died of SYDS not long before. Lia gave up her life as an actress and fled to the home she tried to forget, leaving her husband behind and unknowing. Lia befriends the women and they each help each other get through some very rough times.

not her best

this is the 3rd jennifer weiner novel i've read. my first, "good in bed", has been by far my favorite, and "in her shoes" was only so-so. now with "little earthquakes" under my belt i'm not sure if i'll keep reading mrs weiner's books. things have been downhill since my initial joy/surprise with "good in bed". the subsequent novels have been less-than-fulfilling and for me just havent been as captivating and i cant really get excited about the characters, who seem more or less different facets of the same person. mrs weiner seems to create the same personality in all her characters-- the exact same sense of humor seems to be shared by each of them and the dialogue just seems recycled.

definitely NOT a 5-star effort, people!

Laughed out loud

I hate to read but this book was one I read in a week! I laughed so hard, due to the fact that I could relate being a young mother of 2 boys. I also read "Good in Bed" a couple years ago, again a book that I loved reading.

Eh...

Nothing spectacular. It was good in the beginning and then dropped off. I had to force myself to finish it. I've read Good in Bed and In Her Shoes and really enjoyed those. So imagine my anticipation and then dissapointment when this one dragged on and on...
