Highly recommended!
Lisa Delaney is the author of this book and she had struggled with her weight until she was in her late 20's so she knows exactly
how many
women feel when they're overweight. She knows about the insecurities and other issues that you have to deal with. She writes like she's talking specifically to you and I love that. She guides you through different issues and
way
s to overcome them while losing weight and maintaining it. Her experiences are ones that I felt I could relate to, having gone through the same thing in my life, and her advice is logical and presented in a way that would get anyone motivated. Even people who feel like they have tried every diet and failed will be inspired by this book. I'm the kind of person who hardly finishes books in less than a week, but this I finished in 3 days. I thought it was that good. Any woman struggling with their weight should read this book.

A GREAT LITTLE BOOK.
THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE, I'M NOT KIDDING, AND I'M 60 YEARS OLD. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GETTING THIS BOOK, DON'T HESITATE, BUY IT. IT IS THE WHOLE ENCHILADA ABOUT BEING
FAT
, WHY YOU ARE FAT, AND WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON. IT IS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS BEING A CRUTCH TO LEAN ON. NICE WORK.

Hilarious - Hit the nail on the Head!
I will be straight with you: this book is not going to ring true for everyone. You have to have "
fat
girl
programming", as defined by Delaney, to understand. If not, don't bother. But if you do, this is so helpful because: 1) SOMEONE out there knows exactly what you are thinking - seriously, 2) that same person has come up with tricks and strategies to "reprogram" yourself, and 3) she's hilarious!
I can't recommend it enough.

Can get you headed in the right direction
I don't think this book is great, but it's not bad, either. There is a lot of great, practical advice--the first being to make exercise your first priority so that you're doing something for yourself instead of trying to take something a
way
. And she really does know what it's like to be the
fat
kid hiding cookies in your sleeve because you're embarrassed to eat them in front of people. I do,
how
ever, have to agree with the folks who said that the tone of the book gets old towards the end. I really wanted to finish, but it took me FOREVER once I got halfway through it. On my way to being a Former Fat
Girl myself
, I am now sick to death of the phrase "Former Fat Girl"! I am also bothered by the fact that it appears that after the initial hype of the book, the website is no longer being updated. Yes, there are still people leaving messages, but there has been nothing else updated. If you want to create a community for the readers who purchased your book, maybe you should update it. Just a thought.

Really Hit Home
I am a 71-year old, very obese lady with thyroid problems. I have been on every diet under the sun and totally destroyed both my thyroid and mebabolism - lost a lot and then gained back even
more
. I almost gave up as I was al
ways tired
and it hurt to do anything let alone walk, and I felt so guilty about the food I was eating and the quantity, but could not stop. I cannot diet any more - my body refuses to cooperate.
How
ever, I bought a new motorized treadmill about 3 weeks ago and am trying to get motivated to use it on a regular basis.
I received this book yesterday, and when she talks about doing exercise in increments, it was just what I wanted to hear. I managed to increase both my speed and time today as I didn't look at the total time I hoped to work out, but getting through 5 minute increments. I cannot tell you how much better I feel when I got done. I can hardly wait to read the rest of the book.
I'm sorry that people think the author is feeling sorry for herself, but those of us who have dealt with extreme obesity appreciate the fact that she has gone through what we are encountering every day. It is hard to change but if it makes sense and someone has been successful, I want to know what lead up to their recovery and how they handled it. I am so happy to have found this book.
