Awesome

I've read this book 3 times and then I was foolish enough to loan it out. It was an old paperback edition and when it came back, it was in pieces. Then I cried, and have been looking for a replacement ever since.

C'mon Publisher, let's get busy and reprint it (hardcover) again. I'll even send you the money in advance.

Ian

Terrific action story. Can be reread over and over.

I first stumbled onto the book at the public library, and have re-read it several times. Unfortunately I have moved away from the library, and have not been able to find it again. Orm, Toke, Ylva, King Harald, Bishop Poppo, all the characters are just fantastic, and like old friends. It also is a good historical record of the Viking conquests and travels. Orm was justly called "The Far Traveled". I am searching diligently for a copy, so I can read it whenever I want!

Simly the best

I have read the book in its orginale language, Swedish, comes kina natural if you are Swedish :) The Swedish title is - as noted before - Röde Orm, witch means Red Snake, nothing else. People before have been giving a pretty good deskription of it, so what I want to say is just two things: Everyone I lended or given the book to, have just loved it, no matter they age, eduqation, nationallity etc. Even though I almost had to force some people to start read it. Not one single person have thought less of it. If you ever get to Stockholm you can get a English copy (Paperback)at the bookstore in the central-train station (think they also have a Finnish copy of it)

A well told and exciting story

I discovered this book in the school library over 30 years ago, and bought my own copy as soon as I found one. A well spun yarn, an adventure story set in the wholly believeable world of the Vikings at a time when Christianity and other new ideas were beginning to make their mark. Buy it, and you will find yourself reading it year after year after year.

A witty, exciting Viking saga, full of adventure and history.

This book was published in Swedish also, as Röda Örm, or the Red Dragon. I really enjoyed all the adventures, and the realistic picture of life in Viking times. I never knew they got to Constantinople! What a fantastically long way to row a boat! I read a loaned copy, and want one of my own. Please get it re-published.
